Lately, I’ve been revisiting some tracks from this album, the first songs. It brought a lump to my throat, especially the instrumental introduction to the first track (il pianeta venere). I don’t know why, actually, maybe I do know... I remember when I used to listen to the cassette in the car, the first one my dad bought for me, sugar paper, used Renault, with the malfunctioning cassette player in the car radio. To listen to it, I had to put a folded piece of cardboard between the housing and the inserted cassette, otherwise it sounded distorted and out of tune, like certain tracks by Mark Linkous on It's a wonderful life. But back then, I didn’t appreciate these nuances; I was about twenty...

Lambchop I Hope You're Sitting Down / Jack's Tulips

Lambchop's Is a Woman and Nixon (which nobody mentioned) are gems, warm and cozy like a winter blanket for nostalgic souls lost in the 1960s. I can personally recommend both. The rest of what I've heard from them (him) didn't particularly impress me. Nice review.
Belle and Sebastian The Life Pursuit

Among their studio albums, the only one I don't have (for now) must have a reason. I read that they resemble The Smiths. At first listen, I thought the same, misled by the covers. In truth, I don't think they have much in common. The Smiths made (above all) decadent, melodic pop. B&S, at the beginning, (above all) crafted a sweet and splendid folk/pop with slight 60s hues. In the end, B&S (starting with this album, although sometimes producing excellent albums) pushed towards the less engaged Beach Boys, while The Smiths never did. A band truly similar to The Smiths, not just in their covers, is Gene, if I may recommend the name. Nice review, "tremano di candore" is a beautiful definition, just like the first (2/3) albums of B&S.
Franz Kafka Il Messaggio dell'Imperatore

I would like to comment and write so many things (consciousness and the themes connected to it are among my greatest intellectual passions of recent years; I could never make you understand how much...) but I prefer not to bore anyone. I will just say, you did an excellent job of pointing out with grace and lightness this work (which I do not know) by Kafka. I'll look it up.
Terrence Malick Song to Song

"Thus, the apparent repetitiveness of the film gradually transforms into a feeling: the feeling of having lived the experiences, the affections, the games of glances alongside the protagonists. It feels as if you’ve had the same breeze in your hair, breathed the air of the same places." You have managed to express in a few lines the fundamental characteristic of Malick's films, especially The Tree of Life. The problem for the detractors, and the absolute charm for the admirers, is that it doesn’t tell you stories; it makes you live them firsthand. And you don't appreciate the film so much during the viewing, but afterwards, in the memory, just like those ordinary unique days that make up life.

Honestly, I would rather recommend this Biggest Bluest Hi Fi, really very nice, very much like Belle & Sebastian’s earliest albums. After all, the singer at that time had just recently, if I remember correctly, also had a relationship with Stuart Murdoch. Her voice could be seen as the female version of the singer from B&S (a singing style heavily influenced by chronic fatigue syndrome...)
