I believe that “più su,” whose music is written by Baldan Bembo, contains one of the most beautiful harmonic progressions in all of Italian music. In fact, perhaps the most beautiful. Certainly, its beauty is highlighted by the way Renato Zero sings it over an equally splendid melody. Ps. Some compare the early Renato Zero to Bolan. In my opinion, even if we set aside the striking similarities in their outfits made of sequins, makeup, hairstyles, movements, etc., there were really points of contact in themes as well. Beautiful beautiful. I met Billy Bragg 30 years ago during the doc (a Rai program by Arbore). On my first trip to London, I bought at Tower Records for two pounds a edition featuring two of his albums, one of which was Talking about poetry with The taxman. I have always found his songs very beautiful and sincere, well played. Every now and then I revisit them (as I will do now). But love never blossomed.
