The idea of the opposite of things is lovely; it would be great to write a book about it, "The Book of the Opposite of Things," a book that, as @[odradek] said, is worthy of my idol Borges. A beautiful exercise to do, fertile ground to express creativity, something like fluid concepts and creative analogies from Hofstadter...

Thank you for letting me know so many things I didn’t know, including the surprising origin of "Over The Rainbow," one of the Flaming Lips songs I love the most. Thank you very much. That's all.

The first album had a nice cover.. I liked the songs, the Barrettian style is my thing, but I don’t know why they felt a bit plastic. I’ll give this one a try too.

Anyway, regarding the "Damo Suzuki's Network" experiment, it reminds me a lot of the 1998 boom-box experiment by the Flaming Lips (which eventually led to the creation of Zaireeka). But that one (the Lips') was muuuuuch crazier; let's give the Lips what belongs to the Lips 😄

I'll give you a 5 just for that sentence you quoted about the laughing skulls, for making me aware of these Can...(just kidding, I only knew them by name 🙁) along with many other things, and I love to learn and discover. As for the rest, I have to admit that I struggled to read you, but maybe it was too early in the morning when I did.

Beautiful, beautiful review. If you fix that ā€œpassaggio,ā€ it’s more than perfect! I’ve listened to something of his in the past, and I didn’t dislike it. I’ll return to it.

@everyone: Thank you for stopping by. I’d like to take this opportunity to make two observations, one more general and one more specific:
1) Today, reading the comments, I was thinking. If painting had as many admirers as music does, what would we read online about works like Picasso's cubist paintings? Well, I think it would be not so different from some dismissive judgments we've seen here. The problem is that music is a more popular art form, and it should be, and as such, it must inherently be more accessible. Of course, no one would ever dream of telling someone who appreciates Picasso's cubist period that they do it to show off and act superior. But with Beefheart, it can be said, and I’m not surprised. For the reasons mentioned above. Second observation to follow…

Debaser is definitely DEAD, for now.. I’m the only one from the old guard who hasn’t said it until now, I would really worry :-)
