I refrained from reviewing this album after seeing the first review published. Now there are three reviews. I almost feel like doing the fourth (this is not a threat). Anyway, I’ve listened to it and continue to listen to it a lot (I acquired it 3 weeks ago). For me, it is overall a beautiful album, refined and catchy, cultured, committed, and enjoyable. With one stupidly trendy catchphrase. It could be the Italian album of the year.

I agree with antoniomimmo on the tracks. It's just that while he sees the ones mentioned as exceptional songs on a good album, I find them almost good (aside from "Il Castello dei Perchè," which is truly very, very beautiful) on a mediocre or worse album. As for the performance skills, they are as great as ever.

What can I say, I give up. But to me, in this album, it sometimes feels like I hear the Pohh singing: "GOD OF CITIES, AND OF IMMENSITY...". PS Maybe I find it so lacking because I haven't listened to Serendipity?

Alright, so the dealer gave me Notre Dame de Paris by Cocciante disguised as Dracula by PFM.

That phrase is the stupidest thing in a truly "substantial" album.

Jodo's comment, bluntly and violently contemptuous, doesn't sit well with me, especially what he says about Waters. It reminds me of someone on this site who dismissed Capossela (and his music) by calling him toxic and a drunk. However, to compare this album to L'Isola di Niente seems a bit extreme. Anyway, I listened to it again and I can confirm that the fast-paced tracks are not bad, but the slow ones just don’t work (can you really picture "Non guardarmi" in a 70s PFM album?).

The fast tracks aren't too bad. The slow tracks cause me a physical discomfort that I can't explain..

Sorry, I want to be more serious. But don’t you find this album a bit forced and clichéd? I can’t seem to find a hint of "naturalness" on a musical level. Can anyone convince me that it’s not so?

Stream-of-consciousness comment: Oh my God, PFM doing Cocciante NOOOO!!!!!!!! And then there's Dolcenera, someone whose only good quality is her name (ah, Fabrizio, how we miss you in Italy). Go back to Music Farm...
Reasoned comment: But what does the beautifully mentioned "Il castello dei perchè" (which reminds me so much of the old wonderful PFM) have to do with this monument to musical banality, a musical abomination? At this point, even Pinocchio by Pooh deserves to be reevaluated.
Final comment: Old PFM, where are you?
