Gustav Mahler Sinfonia n° 6 "Tragica"
Voto:
What a shame, I don't know it (there was a time in my life when I only listened to classical music, but I haven't done so in a while). Can you believe I'm feeling like listening to Mahler after discovering that Wayne Coyne, regarding the last track of the latest Flaming Lips album, said that "the core of the chorus melody has a melancholy resolution evoking, abstractly, sections of Mahler's 9th Symphony" (source Nothing found for Website ?option=Content&task=View&id=277)

CAZ, I totally agree with you. Who cares about the votes.. The only thing that matters to me is talking about it and sparking a little curiosity. Do Not Worry, Be Happy...
Psycho, if you're looking for the raw side (that is, very little production) of the Flaming Lips, I don't think you'll find it on this album. If you're looking for the crazier and Dadaist side, in a certain part, yes.

Tomorrow I'm going on a trip, and I don't want to leave any doubts... I repeat: 1. "1 - The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song": Rating 8 for the revived rhythm "2 - Free Radicals": Rating 8 for the surprise falsetto "3 - The Sound of Failure/It's Dark... Is It Always This Dark??": Rating 9 especially for the ending "4 - My Cosmic Autumn Rebellion": Rating 10 for the emotion "5 - Vein Of Stars": Rating 8 for the sounds and the sweet refrain "6 - The Wizard Turns On...": Rating 8 for the idea "7 - It Overtakes Me/The Stars Are So Big, I Am So Small... Do I Stand a Chance?": Rating 10 for the originality of the structure and the final emotion "8 - Mr. Ambulance Driver": Rating 5 for the banality "9 - Haven't Got A Clue": Rating 7 for the arrangement "10 - The W.A.N.D.": Rating 6 because they are still the Flaming Lips (even if they sound like the Beatles from Sgt. Pepper's, but really, really..) "11 - Pompeii Am Götterdämmerung": Rating 7 for the Pink Floydian crescendo "12 - Goin' On": Rating 8 for the Lipsian melancholy (some will say it resembles Mercury Rev).
To conclude: 10 overall (okay, I'm generous with the ratings..)

For CAZ: I gather there are others; I searched for them before writing my "notes," maybe not well enough. I more or less agree with the review (including the fact that it returns to the spirit of Transmission). On the point that it’s the worst (even though it’s a great album anyway) of the last five, I don’t agree. Especially that it sounds worse than Yoshimi, which is also a great album in some of its parts (almost all).

El Guevo, it's true that I didn't follow them back then, but I made up for it by buying Finally the Punk Rockers, etc. I have the complete discography, including Zaireeka. Personally, I think I'm an expert. PS. Does anyone know "Somewhere over the Rainbow version Lips"?? PS. Come to think of it, I might be missing some early EPs.

One thing: but has anyone understood when it will be released in Italy?

Thank you very much for adding the cover. PS Dear staff, do you realize that De-baser will probably be able to boast about being the first site in the world to have published the review (of course, calling it a review is a bit strong…) of this album??? It’s a nice record, isn’t it??!! Another thing, did I mention that in Free Radicals (Radicali liberi!!!) Coyne sings in falsetto that sounds like Prince? Anyway, for me the FL are increasingly the Tom Waits of pop..
