I have always thought, ever since I met them twenty years ago, that the unique thing about B&S, about Stuart Murdoch, is his ability in his compositions to evade banality and melodic and harmonic predictability without becoming the least bit convoluted but always extremely enjoyable. This is exemplified, in my opinion, by the sophisticated melodic ups and downs of this song, one of the most beautiful and inspired of the group, in my view

I don't know why, but when I think of this album, I remember the joy of downloading songs on Napster, the excitement of crossing your fingers hoping the connection wouldn’t drop or that nobody would interrupt the download. If I recall correctly, during the download, there was a chance to listen to the (partial) portion of the song that had been downloaded. And I remember the beauty of the first notes of Stars of tracks and fields that made me sense a magic.

I don't know why, but whenever I think of this album, I remember the pleasure of downloading songs on Napster, it must have been over 20 years ago, the magic you felt when you crossed your fingers hoping the connection wouldn't drop or that no one would stop the download. If I remember correctly, during the download, there was the possibility to listen to what had been downloaded (partially) of a song. And I recall the beauty of the first notes of The Stars of Track and Field that I had just downloaded, which hinted at something magical. The beginning of a tale flavored with snow-covered fir wood and stars, Murdoch's voice at the peak of beauty, unique melodies and harmonies.
