This album took over my summer of 2001; I couldn't detach myself from it. It was a true pleasure to see us write this beautiful story on it.
Van Der Graaf Generator The Least We Can Do Is Wave To Each Other

Jackson's magnificent sax in the first piece is the offspring of Coltrane's in Olè. Great Vandergraaf, Pawn Hearts is probably superior, but beware, this record is different, wilder, and "romantic."

Another review by AA.VV., enough already, this is the ninety-seventh! Despite this, I have to give you a double 5 because I just downloaded this movie today that I haven't seen yet, so do what you will.

I agree with the subjectivity of the rec, even though I liked it. As for the all-encompassing knowledge, I agree that it should be taken with a grain of salt, but it is useful. I mean, the immense archive that Scaruffi proposes is vast and well-organized, highlights numerous masterpieces, and is written very well. It offers many insights. As always, it's important to engage your own mind, but I think there are no doubts about this; I know very well that Quicksand are worth millions of times more than Guns and Roses, and I certainly won't be swayed by the latest Scuraffi. But I also listen to him, just as I do with every debaseriano.

I went to read Scaruffi on the Beatles. I mean read in a sense, given the immense length of the piece, which confirms the value of the Beatles themselves. Anyway, it seems to me like a sensible and valuable point of view, like all alternative and well-argued perspectives. He says, for instance, that they didn’t manage to escape the 3-minute song format, while around them long psychedelic suites were being composed. This is true, but for example, "Help" is more beautiful than other 3-minute songs, and that’s no small thing. Then I want to say, one could also assert that Mozart didn’t invent anything, that he produced very pleasant music but little that was innovative. I’m sure Scaruffi would give him at most a 6; while not entirely agreeing, I would still respect his point of view.

This page can only offend those who lack common sense; I don't believe that's the case for Mr. S. Rather, it seems to confirm the importance of the work of a critic of indisputable value. It's clear that each of us has some judgments to contest, but that's inevitable when you review thousands of records; you can't please everyone. Debaser, in any case, doesn't need to belittle him; it’s already a better reality. Nevertheless, I liked the review; it's an excellent example of a good double. As for the album, well, I don't have a judgment to express about the Beatles in the form of a score; sometimes they seem genius to me.

Listening back, I confirm what I already knew: this trio has truly done great things, both here and in subsequent projects. I wrote about Royal Trux a few days ago, then there are stories like JSBE that deserve a bit of separate chatter; I might just go check how the database is doing on that front...

Great shot, I was about to say it myself, I totally agree with everything you said, in fact, I'm going to listen to them again right away.

Just in time, a few hours before the well-deserved (?) vacation to greet and thank the last arrivals. I’m glad you all enjoyed it, and that we're talking again about an album that, as I mentioned, carries within it some devastating seeds. Now I'm listening to the long psychedelic suite in the middle of the album, oh my goodness, gentlemen... Happy Ferragosto to everyone, with millions of shooting stars included.
