Steve Reich Music for 18 Musicians

Santa Claus, have a heart brought to you as a gift, if this is music without a soul! Just kidding, Santa, in fact I truly love Reich's ability to bring out the soul from "mathematical" rigor: at a certain point, the measures lined up in order, composed and neat, start to bleed, and they become terrifically human. This happens to me, but it's absolutely plausible that Reich's music might appear cold. In any case, the samples here wouldn’t have mattered. Cold, warm, or lukewarm as it may be, this, like Reich's other works, should be embraced in the entirety of its conception.

Yes, maybe a bit bombastic. I’ve listened to the album a few distracted times, but so far the spark has never struck. That doesn't change the fact that in a few hours the situation could change. In fact, I'm putting it back on...

You were incredibly quick! I share almost everything, the essence of every moment of the work, the highly effective metaphor of poison, precisely what I needed in my review... the quote from Reich is significant, Music for 18 is probably an even more intense experience than Drumming, which I still prefer for purely sentimental reasons... Another thing I didn't mention in mine is the deep mathematical matrix of Reich's music, which right here in 18 reaches sublimation. How beautiful.

If I didn't live a thousand kilometers away from the Pordenone countryside (which I know quite well), I would definitely have gone. The description is very pleasant; I envied you.
