Stanley Kubrick 2001 Odissea Nello Spazio

I believe that Kubrick was too intelligent to categorically assert or deny that 2001 speaks of God, or even a God. The monolith is a suggestion, the evocation of an undefined object. On the other hand, the super-human pervades every frame of the film, suggesting an undoubtedly infinite number of interpretations.

Too "track to track," in my opinion, in many of the (excellent) reviews that are currently crowding this space. I was 11 years old when I saw this film for the first time, alone at home, in the evening, on a local network...I won't say more.

I too have been marked by those catacombal live shows I never attended... For a while now, I've been looking for the time and inspiration to review Prayers on Fire; for now, I'm reading this latest tribute to the great Nick, a beautiful page.

An extremely interesting and essential suggestion; I have Schiff's sonatas of Schubert, sublime. The review is of rare delight.

Funny enough, I just re-watched Brazil yesterday. If I had already been familiar with these de-reviews, I would have rushed to review it.

I've heard so much about it and read in university books that I've never felt like watching it. Deep down, I've always imagined it wasn't really a great film, but if more positive reviews keep coming in, I swear I'll make up for it.

Deaf, Totò, Gassman, and Manfredi had imagination too, and moreover had a depth far superior to Banfi & co. But we all know this. And then, be careful, it’s not here that there’s the low-brow stuff; the low-brow stuff is a direct offspring of ostentation, if you catch my drift. Here there’s so much of that understatement that there isn’t even any tackiness. Debaser is not at the end of its rope, but in crisis, in the positive sense of the term, and generally, without crisis, there’s no progress. However, I reiterate, I really don’t align with this cinematic invasion; there’s an urgent need for separation, but I imagine it will take some time.

Fuck serial and pre-packaged products, fuck movies that tell us how to love, fuck generational films made for phones, fuck sequels to blockbuster movies, fuck Pirates of the Caribbean, fuck the exquisitely useless cinema of Ozpetek, fuck De Sica Christian, fuck all those little TV comics that make their way to bookstores and then to the big screen, fuck psychological thrillers by the book, and if you want to know, Punisher, fuck even Bagaglino. Banfi, Abatantuono, Pippo Franco, Montesano, had imagination, very low budget and above all zero pretensions, and anyone who brings up Kubrick or Truffaut, revisionism and so on in this context has completely missed the point.
