No comments? Are we just going to let it slide like this? The most intense work of the greatest Italian director (tied with a couple of others) should merit far more than six comments. Anyway, Spleen, I'll watch it again in your honor. Just think that in my memory the fire is so strong that I don’t even remember "the silent and clean dawn" that seals the ending. Yes, praise be to Visconti and all those who create beauty.

I miss this, immediately on my next listening list, also thanks to this passionate page. As for the last sentence, while it’s true that Coltrane’s last work is the most spontaneous, it’s false that he was struggling with psychotropic substances during those years. In fact, after those famous 4 days locked in his room in 1957 (this album is from '64), Trane had distanced himself from drugs, starting that process of spiritual resurrection that leads to his much-discussed "final phase." '64 was the year of A Love Supreme, just to be clear.
