Muffin, you're on the right wavelength, go smooth with Gerry.

Yes, now I remember that dawn. Oh my.

No comments? Are we just going to let it slide like this? The most intense work of the greatest Italian director (tied with a couple of others) should merit far more than six comments. Anyway, Spleen, I'll watch it again in your honor. Just think that in my memory the fire is so strong that I don’t even remember "the silent and clean dawn" that seals the ending. Yes, praise be to Visconti and all those who create beauty.

And what is this 2 for trust, not even the benefit of the doubt? It could deserve a 1...

The dawn scene with the two staggering forward, the sun rising like a sentence, the place left unsaid in a Kafkaesque manner... I appeal to the people of debaser, at least one of you watch it and love it.

The beauty of this film is that you can rate it either a 5 or a 1. You either consider it a gem or a horrifying blow to the balls. I rate it a gem, and when that hour and a bit was over, I immediately felt a terrible sense of nostalgia.

I saw Good Will Hunting a long time ago and I remember very little about it, I just now realize that Matt Damon was in it too! But here it’s different, believe me.

Superb, sublime. Martin in SS uniform is one of the most beautiful beings ever seen on screen. I can't say anything else, not even to rate it.

I miss this, immediately on my next listening list, also thanks to this passionate page. As for the last sentence, while it’s true that Coltrane’s last work is the most spontaneous, it’s false that he was struggling with psychotropic substances during those years. In fact, after those famous 4 days locked in his room in 1957 (this album is from '64), Trane had distanced himself from drugs, starting that process of spiritual resurrection that leads to his much-discussed "final phase." '64 was the year of A Love Supreme, just to be clear.
