Pat Metheny & Lyle Mays As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls

Purists are like those Japanese soldiers discovered fighting in the Pacific islands 20 years after the end of the war. Generally, they belong to the category of music critics rather than that of musicians. "You are the most irresponsible person I have ever known." "Well, someone has to be." (Fandango-1985)... legendary rebellious film.

I have never shared the excessive nonchalance with which jazz purists dismiss PMG; this album is truly BEAUTIFUL.
I confirm the difficulty of using the Roland Guitar Synth, with which Pat achieved the famous "trumpet" sound; nowadays, he only uses it to control the famous Synclavier.
A technical note for those interested: in the title track, it is very evocative how, after the eighth-note pulse of the bass, the entry of the electrified twelve-string guitar, tuned down a minor third, adds depth and solemnity to the played notes.
Great review.

Matter of opinions, Fosca.
The touch and retouch bores me.

It's not about protecting my little garden, but about respecting precious things... because every record, especially if important, is a universe. The feeling that someone who had nothing to say, beyond some rough aesthetic data, has reviewed offering, seems pretentious to me... beyond free jazz or imprisoned jazz. And for God's sake, let's stop with the genres... a now outdated issue.

Your review, in its sufficiency, is the typical Sunday pseudo-jazz trip from an "alternative positive" rocker... I think that's enough, right? Anto', it's your fault for not reviewing these records in time... :)

One of the hallmark albums by Pat Metheny, one of the most important jazz musicians of the last 30 years. In this review, Offramp comes across like a little toy whose instructions haven't been fully understood. A gun in the hands of a child.

Well, butler, maybe it's the foreign press or international artists who overrate them... or perhaps you underestimate them. To posterity...

Ok, downloaded and listened. If it were my cousin, I would compliment her, but... how many people do things like that. The pieces are all the same. I'll pass, but thanks anyway.

These are the reviews I like... I start my search and then I express myself.
