A DEFINITE POST: Petrucci is a midi file, a diligent little schoolboy completely expressionless, PERIOD! Malmsteen RULEZ! How can anyone criticize a guitar giant like him?! It’s easy to talk now that we’re in 2006 and our ears are saturated with ten thousand of his imitators, but at 17, when an average musician struggles with the solo of “Paranoid,” he CREATED A STYLE THAT INSPIRED THOUSANDS OF GUITARISTS AND MUSICIANS! Go back to those years - the early 80s - how can you not recognize his innovative talent? If you don’t like that style, that's your problem...

Well, as a bassist, I can tell you that Flea is to the bass what Kirk Hammet is to the guitar. Technically and "musically", they rank very low on the scale, really low (to give you a silly example, our own Faso is far superior to Flea in my opinion). However, I recognize that both have managed to create quite catchy parts that have brought them - thanks in part to playing in famous bands - a lot of glory. But I think that a somewhat seasoned musician won't be easily fooled.

However, I acknowledge that I Dream suffers from a serious case of mannerism.

as the paninari would say: CAMOMILLATI EASYCURE. Thank you for your essay on the aesthetics of music, but don’t come telling me that Dream Theater are JUST four session musicians, come on. If that were true, there would be an abundance of groups like them. Dream Theater are four excellent musicians and in this album they demonstrate a remarkable compositional talent - just think that they are among the few prog-metal bands to attract followers even among non-musicians - I understand that for you these qualities may not be important, and I can see that you value innovative musicians, researchers, pioneers more. However, you need to realize that your criteria for judgment are not universal at all. Then your dazzling rhetorical speculations on the philosophical and aesthetic intentions driving Dream Theater are rather out of place... In my opinion, popular music is predominantly a humble art, and musicians rarely consciously question the aesthetic intentions they pursue with their music. Musical talent is mainly a gift, and when a musician has it, they exercise it at high artistic levels without overthinking it. They leave that to eager commentators like you.

At this point, Google would come to the rescue, suggesting that after typing "conscenzia," you might have meant "COSCIENZA?"

No problem frasco, the beauty of this site is precisely the disputes between users :-)

Anyway, frasco, allow me this, I got a bit heated too in the review of Malmsteen, considering your allusions to my inability to download albums from the internet.

Hey twig! Here you are again, look, feel free to express your innovative criticisms of Malmsteen's work; you know we need someone to enlighten us by saying that this guitarist is just about technique and speed. You know how it is, no one has ever delved so deeply into the analysis of his work, and now we all have a more open mind. However, while you're spouting your nonsense (oops, slipped again), if you could avoid dragging me into it by claiming that my criticisms of the album's production stem from my incompetence in downloading the album from the internet, I feel entitled to invite you to leave the page.

Well, frasco, if you downsize a bit, we can already think more clearly. Anyway, it’s not like I spend my days breaking down records in search of the sampled sound; certain things jump out at me by now.
