Nirvana In Utero

Kurt Cobain, a talent for writing beautiful songs so overwhelming that it almost makes you mad... about the album, what can I say, yesterday I scored 5 stars on expert playing Heart Shaped Box on Guitar Hero for the Xbox 360. I also don't understand the comments from Nirvana's detractors who even wrap themselves in objectivity (?!). I understand that Nirvana may not be to everyone's taste (when I was a kid-kid (around 14 years old) I couldn't stand them either, too untechnical and too "commercial"), but denying them any musical value is truly reckless...

You're right, Gemini!! I also obviously have it in the original, by the way, the American version called Ranger X, ah, old age...

Beautiful review, the film - while quite commendable - I found to be a bit too rhetorical and syrupy.

I've heard some tracks...we're really on the edge (if not inside) of plagiarism, still some pieces sound good, and "Woman" is really fun to play on Guitar Hero II.

Have you met Roi Punny? He's my favorite illustrator of Dylan Dog, a comic that I read up until issue 100.

I actually liked it; it's heavy, yes, but not as pedantic as Bubi says (sorry for the pun). Plus, Del Toro is spectacular in the role of the redeemed criminal, too harsh a judgment!

cute, clichéd, but cute.

Holy shit, how many laughs I had with this movie... I watched it in the cinema back in my childhood.

A totally over-the-top film, at times unintentionally comedic, but also exhilarating, with jaw-dropping cinematography, editing, and post-production. Regardless of what anyone says, visually it’s stunning, a sort of blend between cinema and comic book (just like Sin City), with images that at times seem (or are indeed painted). The story is what it is (but let’s remember it’s a port of the comic, not a historical reconstruction, dear Bisius), the parallels with politics are quite evident, and the dialogues are a bit naive (but who hasn’t felt exhilarated when Leonidas shouts "This is Sparta!" and tosses the ambassador down the well). I can throw out a provocative thought: why is it that if a film is anti-military, anti-war, pro-peace, and against Bush’s politics it’s always okay (and perhaps it does so in a sycophantic way), but if a film glorifies the opposite ideals (which, let’s not forget, are shared by a good part of the world's population) it’s necessarily branded as "pro-regime"? Shouldn’t freedom of expression work in both directions?
