The debut hadn't fully convinced me but had only slightly appealed to me, clear and explanatory reception.

I listened to the album, damn what a production! Almost too clean, but what a punch. The instrumental parts really convinced me (the bass sound was wicked), but I struggled with the singing being too often "off-beat" and "off-melody" (but in this case it fits well, de gustibus). On a first listen, the tracks that struck me the most are Scende la Notte, e lei venne, and the song by Tom (the latter finally touching as well as surprising). Beautiful lyrics. Thanks for the proposta and regards.

Well, maybe he meant crude... as far as I know, "gretta" means mean, stingy, and it doesn't seem to fit well with the content of the review. Alright, now I'm going to MySpace and listen to these, which I've often heard mentioned.

Oh Jaco, you foolish boy, keep your dumb thoughts to yourself. Don't go overboard because you don't know me at all – otherwise you would know that I often criticize Poletti. The review is well written and piqued my interest in a film I haven't seen; I just left this judgment of mine. Since you’re so touchy, try to show others the same respect you demand for yourself. Fool.

Well, it's a lost cause; if you even see the antichrist in the Verdena... anyway, it’s true that their latest sound is very QOTSA (perhaps even too much, to be honest). There are a lot of rock bands that, in my opinion, deserve much less success than they have. For example, just last Sunday in the car with the girl, I was passed an mp3 CD with Wolfmother, The Fratellis, and Verdena. Now, if I had to decide who to burn at the stake for blatant plagiarism and lack of musical depth, I would certainly send the reckless plagiarists, Wolfmother, or the nefarious The Fratellis, who are international bands enjoying much more success than Verdena. I mean, I’m not exactly shouting miracle when I hear Requiem or Il suicidio dei samurai, but I do hear decent rock music, well played and well produced (which, of course, might not appeal to everyone; these three can definitely blow their own horns). The fact that they don’t work and live off music, or that their concerts are filled with faux-alternative teenagers, or that MTV plays their videos honestly doesn’t bother me one bit. The problem is that with Verdena's success (which stings more because they are Italian just like us, and for this reason, we can identify with them), one sees it as an affront to the music one listens to or the music one writes with their own band, which - perhaps unfairly - doesn’t enjoy the deserved visibility. But what does this have to do with the judgment on Verdena's music itself? In my opinion, as long as you don’t separate the two things, your judgment will always be somewhat subjective.
