What did you want me to list them all? Then saying he's better than Vai, Satriani, and (surely, as you say) Malmsteen is just another baseless claim... well, I guess you're young (and when there's innocence... everything is permitted!)! I'm not exactly old, but before being biased in reviews, I think about it a hundred thousand times... I prefer to give value to my opinions instead of spouting zero-value judgments (it almost sounds like, from your response, that I said Lane is a joke... go figure...).

But it's not true... Anyway... Great tracklist and excellent performances! The guitar solo is legendary...

Waitwaitwait, I never said I was capable of giving artistic meaning to anything at all! Let’s just gloss over the reviewer, it's for the best...

for ajeje: for the fact that you spoke about objectivity in the judgments we can make about a musician's playing style. Then I immediately mentioned Kant because, since the topic was music anyway, he clearly articulated what aesthetic judgment is (in the sense of artistic).

I'm about to reply to you, we’ll talk soon!

Well, if I stuffed the Critique of Judgment in my ears, it would probably happen to me too (it's a pretty big book).

Unfortunately, one cannot be adequately precise about Kant (and there wasn't just him anyway; I've also made references based on my -little- knowledge of German historicism, etc.) in this context. I’ve given you some hints, but honestly, Kant is hard to explain even from the textbook; just imagine trying to do it in a discussion forum on a music topic... However, if you're interested in delving deeper into Kant without having to do all the heavy lifting (I, unfortunately, had to do it to prepare for my aesthetics exam, but you can spare yourself), I recommend a nice manual by Franco Restaino, "Storia dell'estetica moderna," which has its 25 pages on Kant's aesthetics that will surely explain things better than I have done...

I find that to be really great...

Thank you, jet! You know, I find this topic really fascinating! Here we are, all together, talking about music, one of the noblest yet most widespread forms of art in the world! Who doesn’t like music? Who hasn’t ever been moved while listening to music? Who wouldn’t be able to say anything about music? I believe no one. The language of music is truly the most universal ever created by man! And it's always "to be discovered"; even the most hidden note in a long 20-minute suite never ceases to convey what it has to say!
