You can hardly hear it at all, in fact, but this might also depend on the production of the album devon. I’ll give you an example right away: Myung, who is my personal god, is a bit too low in the mix in "Images and Words," he's too much in the background in some parts... but in others, he soars to the sky, while Cliff was always down!

It's true, the sound of the drums is really terrible... but it's not just the snare that has a metallic sound; everything sounds tinny, even the bass drums!... and the drums are played randomly, but I think that's really how it is... and mostly without technique, it seems like instead of Lars on drums there's a wild child banging the sticks here and there without understanding anything about music!!!!... THAT'S ALL!

and also when he sings "Creeping death"....anyway I think a bit lowly of pick-playing bassists....I know it might be seen as another way of playing, but for me it remains nonsense....anyway, Newsted didn’t always play with a pick, "Nothing Else Matters" uses fingers......they say Cliff studied music, with a teacher, but looking at his fingering and his technique...I’d say he’s not that great: 1) a good bassist doesn’t let their thumb stick out from the neck, HE DID, 2) he doesn’t rest his right thumb on the pickup....and I’ve never heard Cliff play even half a walking bass line.....not even a shadow!!

But cliff86, you should know that Steve Harris was a thousand times more technical-fast-composition soul of the group than Clifford Lee Burton. He composed and still composes terrifically beautiful bass lines, and when he was young and around Cliff's age, he was smashing amplifiers on stage with his massive riffs from the very first heavy metal in history... you know Iron Maiden as well as I do, could you say otherwise???.. or can’t you admit that Cliff sometimes played around as a little third guitarist with the big muff???.. these are clear and evident facts beyond any subjective interpretation... I adore Cliff solely for his fantastic stage presence and for the role he actually played in Metallica, the LEADER!!!.... and don't forget that Newsted is in ...And Justice For All, it's just that his bass sound was completely different from Cliff's, he played with a pick, with distortion on for about 98% of the songs, and his sound is easily confused with the distorted sound of the guitars, which mostly also play low chords... and often overlap with the bass!..

sorry accepted, but what is this strange thing?..

True, he was just good, he knew how to compose, but in terms of speed I've seen a hundred thousand better! Then the only thing I didn't really like about Cliff was Pulling Teeth, I mean the beginning is very nice... the part where it starts to decline is when the drums come in, trying to be the GUITARIST with the bass in hand, I mean, it’s true that the bass has some octaves of the guitar, but doing an entire solo with a distortion and wah like a guitar... it's a mess!!!!

maybe they had the support of MTV in their early years... just think “master of puppets” on a global scale sweeping and cruising around planet Earth........the real problem with Metallica is that MTV supported them when they were (and are) making lousy songs....and now they’re famous for being just.....TAMAARI SENSA SENSO!!!!....

You look at it, Cliff was so great that Jason Newsted managed to learn to perfectly perform all his songs in just two days, and on the second day he went to AUDITION to fill the vacant spot... nailing it!!!... I admire Cliff for his creativity, for his rhythmic execution... but he was just an ordinary bassist in technique.......... he was great but not in technique, make this concept clear!!!...

Anyway, come on guys, drum parts like: "creeping death" are part of the history of thrash!!!...only BY LARS ULRICH....who for me remains a legend: p.s. just know that even your beloved Cliff was not a god, he was an average bassist, quite fast, or GUYS, if you look around you’ll find millions just like Cliff!!!...
