The JM2 has fantastic pickups, but for comfort, the Yamaha model I used back in 1999-2000 is better. I can't remember exactly what it's called, but to give you an idea, it's the one Myung uses at Live Scenes in New York. It has two amazing single coils! Anyway, do you want Myung's custom model? The only thing that makes Myung's bass quite tricky are the lack of position markers (the dots, you know), which make orientation difficult! Anyway, RBX is better, trust me, I have one; it has a fantastic tone!

too bad for the gospel choir and the bass...but aren’t they magnificent???...the bass in the solo is too distorted, (but I like it a lot), he uses a compressor to the max...and then takes it off right after....Myung is a bit silly in his choice of effects...but the choir is awesome!...through my eyes Rudess uses a loop on the keyboard, too bad it’s not Portnoy doing that calm rhythm...but at the end, the GOD appears behind the drums!...

In fact, Funky doesn't really fit in, can you imagine him at Myung playing naked with only a sock on his penis?.. what terrifying scenes...

..great review...and an undeniable album....anyway, in my opinion, Myung is the most absurd and technical of the Dreams...also the greatest, only he can do (see Dance of Eternity and Metropolis 1)...he doesn’t even look at the keyboard, he has a millimetric fingering, even on the fretless 6-string, a bass not built for us humans, and ABOVE ALL, at the right moment he knows how to create the most beautiful bass scores in prog history. (see HOME!!)...Portnoy is mind-blowing, in speed and technique (see the ending of Finally Free!)..but just as capable of creating disorienting and engaging rhythms (and again HOME as testimony!..about Petrucci, I have no words (because what can I say about a guitarist who has been at G3 and left Steve Vai in the dust and can do Flight of the Bumblebee at 220 beats per minute??)..and speaking of musical taste, I refer you to the listening of the dear album Awake, I strongly recommend "The Silent Man," the right chords, for the most beautiful acoustic song in prog after "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd...then Rudess, his touch fills every seemingly empty song!!!...if Dream T. don’t mean anything to you, avoid any sad statement about them, I don't care about their technique, I love their way of creating melodies that are both sophisticated and simple at the same time, that capture your soul; every time I listen to this album, it’s an immense emotion, with each listen you notice the nuances and it grabs you more and more..

Yes... it's like asking Laura Pausini what she thinks of Slayer...

Great DREAM THEATER!!! ...has anyone ever listened to the song "to live forever"... it’s an old song written by the Dream in the early '90s... along with "a change of seasons"... unfortunately, it was only played live in '95. I received a CD of the live recording yesterday... the song is so beautiful it really gives you chills... it deserves a dedicated review...

Yesterday I watched the DVD included with St. Anger... all great, but shit songs (except for the title track St. Anger)... it's so sad to see Kirk throwing out mega-distorted riffs and nothing else,... it's like Rocco Siffredi suddenly becoming impotent!!..... I saw NULLITY incarnate in Kirk!....

True, but Romeo's musical soul is supreme...while Malmsteen is supreme ONLY in technique!!!..on the other hand, Timo Tolkki has taken much more technical influence from Malmsteen, if you've had the chance to listen to him closely, and has almost linearly continued the neoclassical Malmsteenian experiments...In my opinion, Tolkki is definitely more worthy of being considered Malmsteen's heir...what I like about Tolkki is that he is much more tremendously personal with the instrument!..
