U2 How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb

Off Topic: Can someone explain to me what the hell is so special about Modest Mouse? Am I the only one who noticed that their latest single (and video) is a clumsy knockoff of the not-so-irresistible "take me out" by Franz Ferdinand?

Placebo Once More With Feeling

I hope this best of at least introduces newcomers to Placebo. It’s a band I’ve loved deeply, and I’ve appreciated the nuances album after album. "Placebo," the debut album, had a very urban sound and evoked the gray skies of industrial cities. "Without You I'm Nothing" was warm, feverish, and swollen with pain. "Black Market Music" was like melted plastic, dark and elusive: intangible. "Sleeping With Ghosts," the English group's masterpiece, is a brilliant middle ground between Molko's personal torments and humanity's anxiety toward technological progress. Don’t be fooled by appearances; Placebo has much more substance than what is seen in newspapers and on television. And Molko is a poet—no, a prophet.

"I don't Have the map" doesn't really appeal to me; it seems like the weakest track on "100 broken windows"... anyway, let's move on to somewhere else, we need to talk about T.Rex!

Caz, don't mess with me. I was making a half-serious speech, which contained several truths. I couldn't care less if you want to keep showing off; we can hate each other and insult each other as much as you want, I couldn't care less. My rude behaviors are proportional to your attitude.

I've always thought that, in the end, I didn't give a damn about Bono's humanitarian commitments. As Noel Gallagher said, if U2 write beautiful songs, it doesn't matter if their singer is always thinking about saving whales or goldfish. This album, which I haven't listened to yet except for the rather unusual single, is inevitably a product of its time. The accusations of rhetoric you level at U2 should really be directed at almost all artists who have spoken about the horrendous international situation in recent years. Even John Lennon wasn’t exactly a poor man; he had money in his pockets, he went to Los Angeles, yet he wrote the most beautiful and famous "political" song of all time. Be careful not to force your judgments, as you might end up appearing as the preacher yourself. No hard feelings, okay!

Anyway, I reiterate: I like Lene Marlin. Not everything, of course. But in some ways, she really reminds me of Suzanne Vega, and who cares if she’s on MTV? John Spencer is on MTV too, so what?

Lovi, you should know that Caz is what you could call the "bad apple" of the site. A bored kid who finds his greatest satisfaction in annoying people for no reason, bolstered by that small group of idiots that egg him on, and who plays the predictable "subversive," the angry alternative, the one who breaks things and hits you. Basically, an ignorant caveman, who, if he weren't trapped in the caricature he has created for himself (otherwise no one would bother with him anymore), would be even less idiotic than he appears. I won't even question that he has some musical culture, but unfortunately, the fact that he is a ridiculous jerk greatly impacts the opinion that sensible people can have of him.
