But one thing about the "influence" of the Doors on other bands: let's admit that I may have exaggerated when I wrote that they haven't influenced anyone, but come on, let's be real, it’s not like every band that uses the organ and has a baritone singer is necessarily indebted to the Doors, that's another bullshit that the music press has fed us for years. As soon as bands like Teardrop Explodes or Stranglers came out, everyone would invoke the Doors, and one of the reasons I wrote this review is also to distance myself from this concept, which I think is absolutely flawed… it’s like I said that Arctic Monkeys borrowed from Oasis.

It bothers me to read that "the initial idea was good, but you didn't justify what you wrote, your review lacked analysis, etc." But what does that mean? You all have always said that this is not a professional site, it's not Ondarock or Karlporz, etc., so I simply limited myself to expressing my opinion as if I were talking to someone on the phone... I don't want to profess any truth; this is my opinion on the Doors and Jim Morrison. I have no pretensions of turning it into a dogma (especially since I know it's impossible, because challenging the icons of the past means also questioning the certainties of entire generations, and no one is willing to accept such a thing). I wanted to provide a spark, without further intruding into a discussion about a band I don't like and about which I could only be critical.

Returning for a moment to the fact that I feel influenced by the judgment of readers... well, I wouldn't say so... especially because, aside from a few exceptions, those who criticize me are often people with very little open-mindedness and quite limited in terms of competence and communication skills.

I appreciate and thank RingoStarfish for his analysis, very interesting and free from bias. However, it’s not that in attributing me certain merits, something else is taken away from me: I believe I haven’t fallen into the easy trap of provocation at all costs, nor do I think I am a slave to “my character” (which isn’t even a character, because on Debaser I am myself, and therefore I am SINCERE): I have simply humbly thrown this stone into the ocean (not into a pond, geese wade in ponds, not me), and it’s up to each person to decide whether to catch it or not... but it’s clear that to retrieve it, one must dive deep. I leave everyone free to interpret my words as they see fit; there is certainly some truth in what you wrote, but on the other hand, I had anticipated all this. Now, having clarified this misunderstanding, I hope we can start a more interesting discussion because, in my opinion, this is one of the few occasions where one can make a certain critique beyond easy localism and hagiographies!

I can't respond to everyone: let's tone it down a bit. I've already said that I wasn't aiming at the Doors fans; I wrote a lot to explain the reasons behind this review... clearly, my intent was to provoke thoughts and awaken consciences, to impose reflections. This is a review against the music press, not against those who listen to the Doors, let's make that clear right away: in any case, I don’t regret a single word of what I wrote; in fact, I believe I was quite diplomatic.

I think that Xtc produced their best work between '79 and '82, when there were four of them... this is a great album, maybe the best of their career: however, "English Settlement," aside from the singles, has never convinced me too much, better "Mummer" from the following year.

Think of it as you want, Pretazzo; I didn't write it to receive applause and approval.

Alright, anonymous, but I ask you not to call me Vrensis, you know how it is.... As for this loser who writes under various fake names, it's clear that it's always the same person signing as Tabba, Charlie, Maurizio Testi... a poor fool, basically.

Anyway, if Maurizio Testi is the one who wrote this stuff "25 aprile quale liberazione??????? si sarebbe stati molto meglio senza questi froci di debaser, codardi, ebrei, guardate in questo sito la maggior parte di voi sono di sangue ebreo, vergogna!!!" You don’t really improve your position, poor Charlie.
