Ronnie James Dio

for Mandrocker: yes, it's the one on the DVD and CD by Dio "Evil Or Divine" (both the CD and DVD are stunning!). Currently, Dio's guitarist is Craig Goldy who is also an exceptional axe-man! Below I'm copying Doug Aldrich's letter (from 2003) where he announced he was leaving the band (Dio) to join Whitesnake:
I'm sure you've all heard the rumors about Doug Aldrich joining the Whitesnake tour, So we'll let Doug tell you in his own words what's going on--
To All The Great Dio Fans,
Just got home from the US Dio headline tour. The tour was a great success and we really enjoyed playing for everyone. We had some killer shows and as usual, Ronnie was amazing.
I've been asked to join Whitesnake for their upcoming tour, and I hope I will be able to see some of you at the shows. After the tour I look forward to collaborating with Ronnie and Jimmy on new music for the next Dio release.
Thanks to everyone for coming out and making the Dio tours a success.
Also, thank you for your continued love and support for Ronnie.

I bought the box set that contains the DVDs and CDs just yesterday and I've just finished watching the DVD... I have just one adjective for this masterpiece: AMAZING!
I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone!
Kudos also to Enrico Rosticci for the excellent review worthy of a band like Whitesnake, led by the legendary David Coverdale! The guitarist (Doug Aldrich) was also one of the four guitarists who played with Ronnie James Dio and he was already proving to be a great axe-man.

Now, apart from the jokes: I appreciate Dio solo as much as Dio with Rainbow.. but I have to admit that I'm one of the few, in fact, everyone says that Rainbow is much better... well, as I said, it’s all a matter of taste!

The only flaw of Rainbow after Ronnie left is that they became a bit commercial... and they oriented themselves towards AOR... don't you think so?
