You were absolutely right to talk about the numbers regarding Malmsteen's speed, just as Mista did a great job in reminding us that Malmsteen plays those notes with that sound (meaning that every note is distinctly heard!!). I’ve already expressed my opinion on Petrucci; I don’t question his technique, but the fact that it's a technique serving a music that doesn’t say much. And the undeniable fact is that in front of a great event like G3, he clearly showed he couldn’t do anything other than beautiful, blazing alternate picking—rather little to stand up to giants like Vai or Satriani. I don’t really consider clones, then even Chris Impellitteri was very good, listen to "Stand in Line", but what value can someone have who is just a poor imitation or double of a true talent?
