It's a tricky argument! I didn't say that two different guitarists can't be compared, but you inevitably lose sight of objectivity and delve into subjectivity. Anyway, ajeje, to get back to the music, when can you list these guitarists for us? After all, we're curious!

ajeje, don't tell me you're in a "press silence"!!! You're the one who started this reasoning!

Come on, at least tell me who those guitarists better than Steve Vai are, I'm curious!

Ah, but I'm not being a do-gooder; I do think that someone has terrible tastes. However, I express my preference when making a choice between the two—not a comparison. I mean, I base it on my personal tastes, but I don't perform an analytical comparison between the two realities because it's impossible for me. The same goes if you talk to me about Dodi Battaglia and compare him to Vai; I won't start comparing them because there's no realistic comparison, except for the fact that they both play the electric guitar. I find that comparison is useful and stimulating when there’s a common denominator; otherwise, as you say, it simply comes down to choosing based on one's subjective taste—I at least do it that way.

Thanks, Panzer. As for Uli Roth, you know I have a real passion for him, so there's no doubt he’s great, and Blackmore is too. I can really see a comparison between the two; for instance, I've had the audacity to consider Uli as the best replacement for Ritchie in Deep Purple. I think he would do extraordinary things! Ajeje, sure, one is a war film and the other a comedy; one is a movie that also makes you think, while the other is just a silly film that certainly doesn’t provoke any reflection. At best, it might bring a few laughs, but in that case, I’d rather watch Verdone, who at least makes you laugh with real talent behind him. How can I make a comparison? I can't do it, and even if I tried, I wouldn’t get anywhere. The only thing that would emerge is my preference, but I know people who haven’t missed a Vacanze di Natale for years and have preferences that are completely opposite to mine... so let's just agree to disagree, just like when we compare Vai with Santana or Gilmour...

Exactly. I can only tell you my preference, the first one, but can we make an objective comparison between the two, and if so, on what basis?

The fact of comparing different guitarists, radically opposed in their musical roots and ways of living the instrument, leads nowhere, except to say that one is better than the other. A technical stylistic comparison is impossible; on what basis would you do it?! Anyway, feel free to mention the great guitarists you referred to earlier; you are free to do so.

It's a highly debatable statement from my point of view.
