The magnificence of the "Emperor" concerto sometimes risks overshadowing gems of absolute purity like this and the fourth concerto. An impeccable review for style, emotional density, and informative apparatus. I have the Pollini version with the Vienna Philharmonic conducted by Böhm (also for the Emperor).

How wonderful to find a page about Zorn less than a week after seeing him live with Masada: it almost seems like De-baser is accommodating and corroborating my musical existence! I don’t have this, but I have no trouble discerning in the sfascia description the qualities that make the Masada experience seminal (starting with the presence of the tentacular Joey Baron, absolute master of the skins).
