I was more convinced by the triple EP "Black Tar Prophecies" (which had some harder edges as well) and I found the last two a bit dull.

Well done Neu!_Cannas to catch stuff not yet present in the kraut debaserian catalog. Monster Movie is indeed rawly splendid and Malcolm Mooney is a crazy interpreter (in every sense). I thought this delay was unnecessary but evidently I was wrong. I'm off to retrieve it!
The Angels Of Light We Are Him

@spacca: the work of Gira that you haven’t digested has nothing to do with this musically speaking (which is from last year and is a White Light – another album I highly recommend – in a folk key). @maryg: the cover is by the same artist as the album "White Light etc." (and of course there are musical/content references). @Purplan: the Akron Family are sponsored by Gira himself (they record on his label - Young God - and even did a split with the Angels of Light). Regarding the new folk, I can agree: on one hand a bit of a drag, on the other I’m not sure. However, this album is truly classic. @rocknrollsuicide: the tension is there, and at times it is barely controlled. I mean moderated (but maybe I used the wrong terms). Calm absolutely no. @everyone: in the myriad of daily listens, occasionally something sticks. This is one of those albums that haven’t been washed away by subsequent listens, but rather I happily rediscover. And it’s for this reason that I avoid suggesting brand new releases, which require a bit of listening time to be framed, understood, and placed in the context of one’s usual listens. Obviously, this little page doesn’t aim to be (as usual) a detailed exhaustive review (which serves no purpose) but rather a ā€œlistening recommendationā€ for those passing by, whether by chance or not.

Those at Blow Up, in terms of skill and quantity, piss all over any Ondarock, it seems clear to me. As for the tendency towards snobbishness and know-it-all attitude...

Oh my goodness, saying that Ondarock is the "most important site" really can’t be taken seriously. Aside from the discussion about new hires, which is fair enough, they’ve been writing nonsense without shame for years (for example, the "specials" section is chilling) and they follow a style that seems lifted straight from Piero Scaruffi, hand in hand with some Blow Up wannabes. It’s obvious that there are some good things, but there are more outlandish claims, and the reviews mostly come from twenty-year-olds who were struck in 2003 by a Radiohead video and things of that sort. Rock sites in Italy just don’t exist. The most followed ones (like Ondarock, but also SentireAscoltare, StoriaDellaMusica - history? - etc.) are sites that prefer the so-called indie/alternative and talk as if they hold the ultimate truth, but in reality, they know far less than one might think.

Not bad, it’s almost identical to the shoegaze-metal stuff that Jesu makes but a bit crazier. Nothing so difficult.

To understand, one simply needs to listen.

Well, yes. Essentially, I’m annoyed by the step-by-step descriptions of what happens on the album, even if it’s just a single track. It’s clear that we’re far from certain ridiculous metal clichés here.
