The Melvins have released around twenty albums, mostly one different from the other. They more or less introduced the concept of drone with heavy guitars and slowed-down Sabbath-style doom. The drone from ASVA has been around for over fifteen years now (just look at Earth, SunnO))), Boris, and the like). Anyway, who cares about innovation (there's little of it here anyway), but when they present you with 1 hour and 9 minutes of music (so pretentious!), it's easy to fall into total boredom. Better to listen to Ascend, for example. Or the latest Ufomammut.

Caught me perfectly on the first listen, but they don't hold up over time. By the third, I've already branded them as wordy. I don't see them as sound frankensteins though, there are worse things out there.
