Lilium Short Stories

Surely a pretty poignant little disc. When the sax appears, it really feels like Morphine, while for the rest it seems to have little to do with 16 Horsepower. The image described by Azzo is almost as accurate as Trell's little page.

Well, well, I wouldn't know if this is a summation of Savage Republic. It's definitely very varied, but I much prefer the first one. On their website (Mobilization), they sell their entire discography in a boxed set for a reasonable price: it's worth it. @Lux: closed in itself in what sense?

Immense masterpiece? Oh my God…
Causa Sui Summer Sessions Vol. I

The album is good, but enough with these improvised jams! I liked the other two. They say vinyl lasts over a million years if kept under vacuum; in fact, on the spacecraft sent into infinity to make human civilization known, they included an LP :) But you can't order them online because they'll arrive at your house like a box of crackers that’s been run over by a steamroller.

Uh, the re-pick! You've even managed to bring Odradek back, I'm going to listen to it right away.
Bardo Pond Amanita

1) Yes, older references. But in sound, they seem quite distant from the MBV. Regarding the length of the MBV tracks, I was actually referring more to the structure: they are closer to a trip than to a song form, so whether they last 6 minutes or 9 doesn’t really matter. As for the intent, it depends on which stoner band you mean (remember that stoned = high). 4) But trips are preferably long; otherwise, what kind of journeys are they?

2) Ecstatic trip. The Bardo Pond are much older (Ash Ra Tempel, poor production, the kraut, even Hawkwind), while My Bloody Valentine rely entirely on full and worn-out production (and yes, they also have long tracks). Also, I honestly don’t understand the term shoegaze. Furthermore, I don’t get you when you talk about "intent." What’s the intent of stoner? proooot. 3) Yes, vaguely. But I didn’t get the thing about 15 years. 4) So you don’t love trips! Then what are you doing with Bardo Pond??

But this is metal.

Hi easy, unfortunately I feel I must disagree with many of the things you wrote. First of all, I don't understand why you dismiss Bufo Alvarius (much, much better than this Amanita) outright because of the length of the tracks: it’s the exact same length as the tracks on Amanita! Perhaps you were referring to sterminata Amen, which, however, appears on an EP and was included in Bufo as a bonus on the CD edition. It’s true that Bardo Pond can often be lengthy and dull, and indeed here they are more unnecessary than on the first album. Secondly, what do My Bloody Valentine have to do with this? This is ultrasonics psychedelia beyond the barriers of space and, in some ways, very close to noise and stoner. I also honestly didn’t understand your initial point about Mogwai: Why does it matter that it was released alongside Ten Rapid? And what do Mogwai have to do with Bardo Pond? I didn’t get your argument about long tracks either (but what is a long track?) because there really aren't any here; or at least there are no suites of any kind. Lastly, what makes you think that Bardo Pond had the "absurd pretense of renewing rockā€?
