It's a completely different mix. The jappo version leans towards electronic sounds with exaggerated tones (like a fuzz guitar that covers everything or stuff placed out of phase and out of volume), while the Southern Lord version has the classic stoner guitar, is more normalized and eliminates most of the messy effects, in addition to having a slightly different setlist.

Sorry, the vote is on the review (descriptive with awareness but I would avoid the description of individual tracks). As for the album, I abstain.

Yes, yes, all true. Interesting, and I also recall the previous one as quite valid, even though it's not something my ears often encounter. Is this nu-folk?

Filthy and schizophrenic electronics with dizzying distortions, slopped together with huge gaudy effects thrown in haphazardly. It explores, with the appropriate “who gives a damn,” the delicate boundary between colossal crap and something awesome. The packaging is made of soft, spongy plastic with a cut-out heart and a transparent orange booklet. A true feast for the eyes (and I thank whoever got it for me, as it’s not exactly affordable around here). An occidentalized version came out on Southern Lord (with a missile on the cover), which unfortunately brings the level of madness way down, increases the guitars, and reduces everything to the usual stoner album by Boris. Spot-on review.

I listened to the latest one (I think it's from this year) and I remember them as more frenzied and abrasive Camper Van Beethoven. Not bad, but I'm definitely passing during this (extended?) period of overly frantic listening. Professional review.

As an indefatigable rocker, I pause at the collaboration with the Melvins where he is indeed plagiarized by Buzzo & co. Hell is very good.

A posteriori and ultimately, album of the year 2006.

I was here too (just making my presence known). A truly great album and one of the best things in this field in the last X years, obviously. In my opinion, there's no comparison with the Heads. Too bad Miller has really flopped with Howlin Rain.

Damn, in the end I got this. There are some organ inserts, as psycho says, that are super smooth wow, especially in the instrumental part I can't remember which, and in general it's not excessively inspired stuff but it sinks perfectly into my ear canals. Haloah

Yes, they definitely have arrows in their quiver. The record puts quite a bit (even too much: over an hour) on the table. Varied, a bit tacky, often predictable, but they know what they're doing, and some tracks have a groove that inexorably grabs your guts. Lately, there have been very few drooling stoner reviews.
