Great review, too bad it has received so few comments. From how you describe them, they remind me a bit of Pankow, do you know them? Anyway, in the industrial scene, the best (at least among those I know) remains Vampire Rodents, who really kick Trent Reznor's ass and, in my opinion, even Foetus.

Psycho, if you like Join Inn, you absolutely need to get this. Amboss is a rawer and more experimental version of Freak'n'Roll (which is awesome), and Traummaschine is a more varied version of Jenseits. In the end, all Ash Ra albums are the same: a first side that is rock-psychedelic and a side B that is atmospheric space.

BeatBoy, if I were you, I would give Husker Du a listen (even two). After all, you like Nirvana, who owe a lot to them. And the Huskers are at least ten times bigger than Nirvana. Maybe try "Warehouse: Songs & Stories," which is their most accessible album and more connected to the sixties and the traditional song form. It’s a double LP of stunning songs; you can't not like it. And the Hart/Mould duo has nothing to envy from Lennon/McCartney. I listened to it again today, and I’ve decided it’s just right for you. Cheers!

I can only agree with what you've just said. Moreover, I've never been too fond of the Velvet Underground. However, there are bands that surpass the masters and others (like Afterhours) that just rehash things we've already heard. So it makes more sense to listen to the VU, Sonic Youth, Husker Du, and so on.

Well, filini, how can you say that Afterhours are better than Velvet Underground? It's fine if they represent something special for you, but that statement seems a bit much. And if you know Husker Du, Mercury Rev, etc., it seems strange to me that you could say something like that.

Oh, you mean Wyatt? I wouldn't have thought that.

No, sorry, I misspoke. I correct myself: they haven't surpassed (and haven't even come close to) the great groups that inspired them. Then if someone knows Sonic Youth and Fugazi and still believes that Afterhours are a top-tier band, that's fine too.
