Yes, yes, don’t take it the wrong way; I was referring to the reviewer. We agree that the Foo make music (with a lowercase m) that can entertain, move, and so on, but let’s try not to give 5 stars to an album that is so blatantly mediocre. That’s all.

Yes Gemma, you’re right, RESPECT. The fact is there are groups (like the Foo Fighters) that have no respect for Music, they really don’t. So saying "they move me" and "they make me feel less alone" really doesn't mean anything.

No, no, I don't mean this. Or rather, I don't mean only this. Music shouldn't serve any purpose at all: it holds within it something mysterious and indefinable that attracts (or repels). The listener can judge what they hear according to their own criteria: "it moves me," "it entertains me," "it interests me," "it makes me feel smart," "it's played with good technique," and so on. Music MUST transcend all of this; it must be independent of these standards. It can move you or not, it can be well played or not—this does not affect its value (which is independent of these measures of judgment).

We can attribute all the meanings we want to Music, but saying "it serves this purpose" is not correct. Music serves no purpose; it is the most abstract art. In music, there is the meaning of everything and nothing, and to simply say "it moves me" is almost an affront.

I didn't like his "declaration of love for music" at all, I just don't relate to it, it's limiting. Your profile, Know-it-all, expresses much higher and more True concepts.

"You feel better and not alone, you get emotional, you remember something that happened in the past. Music serves this purpose." NO NO, I DO NOT AGREE AT ALL. Music is not just for this; it has a much higher and nobler purpose. If you consider music only as a tool for feeling emotions or not feeling alone, you are disrespecting and tarnishing (to use a strong term) its name.

Well, I don't know. In my opinion, the Huskers are more accessible than all those hardcore groups. Anyway, if you want hardcore raw and unfiltered, take the advice from "Hardcore with fervor," but if you just want great music, follow my lead (hehe).

It's a shame this page is populated by idiots; the Minutemen were great. Three average guys who created an unbeatable colossus. Double Nickels on The Dime is high-level rock but never pretentious; I can't get tired of listening to it. The Minutemen were a humble but incredibly brilliant group. 5/5 obviously, they deserve it more than many others, right.

Yes, good job. Actually, you know what? We really need to ignore our "music channels" completely! Let’s forget about what the radios and televisions serve us up; true music is found elsewhere.

No no, neo88, you're mistaken. There’s a "handful of nostalgics," as you say. But above all, there are many Debaser users who review high-level contemporary music. The "common sentiment," as you call it, isn’t really about criticizing all the music of today (and by "all," what do you mean? Only the music you know). Try browsing through reviews of bands you've never heard of; there’s more out there than just the various Vasco, Ligabue, Zucchero, and so on...
