Bisius, if you're a bit into the loudest noise, may I suggest an album that was released this year? They are called On, they come from New Zealand, and they are nothing short of amazing (I wrote a review, if you're interested - public service announcement :)).

I'll chime in as well: art doesn't have to be sophisticated; in fact, very often the most beautiful works are also the simplest. When Percy mentions Roy Montgomery, he gives a great example: that is music of disarming simplicity, far from being sophisticated. Yet for me, it is art of the highest value. In the case of the Queen's Hot Space, the issue isn't that they are influenced by dance. The problem is that they made a record of mediocre music; there are tons of better dance-rock albums than Hot Space.

Great. In a month, I've had the courage to listen to the album twice. Remarkable at times, disorienting, fragmented, good stuff.

I've had them on my list for a while. Reading your description, I’m reminded of Klaus Schulze's Irrlicht and Cyborg, is that possible?

Good Californian beach-punk record. A classic, but in my opinion, the 5 stars are definitely exaggerated; I would give it a three and a half leaning towards four. Their classic "Kids of the Black Hole" is a bit boring; they're better when they really go for it, see LA Girl or Amoeba. They say Rikk Agnew's album is very, very good, but I’ve never had the chance to listen to it.

Listen up: MINKIA!!! Truly fantastic, right among my all-time favorite bands. I have to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the review, vellutogrigio. I'm amazed that nobody on this page mentioned the Minutemen: Nomeansno seem like they were raised on Double Nickels On The Dime. Same funky bass, broken and jagged rhythms, same fragmented attitude (even though with definitely longer tracks), the only difference is that NoMeansNo is a full-on ass-kicking rock band. Solid 5.

Are we talking about noise? Here I am! It seems like something not so easy, I'll give it a listen.
