Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band Trout Mask Replica

The album is fundamental and creatively impressive at insane levels, the review is excellent, the music *for me* unbearable.

So, reprints with the original booklet of War Music and Premonition (they'll be mine) + re-recording of the other three albums without the vocal tracks. Additionally, there are three new VR albums planned, all instrumental. What’s interesting is that everyone will be able to record their own voice over it, add effects, and send the result to Vahnke, who will publish it on the site. Almost, almost...

Villus, now you’re not the only one with the Ether Bunny record: after a preview listen on soulseek, I searched for it and found it on eBay at a low price before Christmas, and today it arrived at my home. I must say it’s truly remarkable, soundtrack-style instrumentals, halfway between free jazz and cowboy, a tribal and refined record. It closely reminds me of Quilombo by Foetus (under the pseudonym Steroid Maximus), really beautiful.

I have the II (the one with the starry cover, also used on J.Cope's krautrocksampler) and it bores me a bit, even though I recognize that it's quality music. I still prefer Harmonia (a collaboration with one of Neu!), and sooner or later I will definitely give a listen to their collaboration with Eno. Haloa!

In my opinion, new school hardcore doesn’t exist :) It’s all or nothing: it refers to the old hardcore, but with some new ideas. It’s a rather vague definition, like saying neo-psychedelia; a lot fits into that: post-hardcore (I’d put Fugazi there), definitely noise-rock (Amphetamine Reptile’s stuff, for example), some post-metal, the so-called melodic hardcore (Bad Religion and countless offshoots), math-rock, even some groups from the contemporary American underground (see SST and Touch&Go up until the early 90s). And finally, there’s also techno-core, yes; and even some hip-hop: the shrill, amelodic scream of the first hardcorers has over the years gotten closer to the rap cadence.

Ajeje, the Charalambides really bore me a lot. But it's not like I'm very into the genre; maybe you'll like them. There's also Ghost, their latest album just came out recently (and in my opinion, it's an indigestible brick). Other names, I wouldn't know. Meanwhile, I'll make a note of the Black Sun Ensemble...
