Bardo Pond Bufo Alvarius, Amen 29:15

In my opinion, it’s not the ultimate cosmic journey; there are others that are more extreme and more trippy (of course, it’s a matter of taste, and I wouldn’t take that for granted). It’s obvious that Faust IV is better than this album; you went to look for one of the greatest albums in the history of rock. But that was a krautpop record (if I may use the term), while this one is noise-psychadelia.

Pretazzo, psychedelia is mental devastation. The songs/melodies miserably shipwreck, drowning in a tide of feedback, echo, and indistinct noise: that's where the beauty lies. If you like it, you listen to it endlessly; if you don't, 8 minutes is enough. I still don’t see much of a connection with Faust (cosmic trips are quite different from krautrock), but I would still listen to a 70-minute krautrock album, for that matter :) It’s true, the trick gets tiresome over time (just look at the subsequent albums by Pond), but here we are operating at levels of absolute excellence.

Great double shot, Ghemison. Interesting proposals, concise and effective reviews.

Have you listened to them yet? I forgot to mention it in the review, they remind me a lot of QUICKSILVER MESSENGER SERVICE. If you like those, I think you might also enjoy these. A weirder and noisier version of the Quicksilver, with epic guitar riffs reminiscent of Neil Young & Crazy Horse from back in the day. Good stuff.

Yeah, but less blues and more balls-to-the-wall rawk. I like them even more.

I was struck too, scary record. Damn, these guys were stoner back in '69!

We were talking about Zaireeka, which is a 4 CD album to be listened to simultaneously on 4 different stereos. If you like FL, you absolutely have to get it! Regarding the duplicate reviews, I somewhat agree with psychopompe: if you wanted to share your thoughts, there was space for comments on the other review. Like you did, besides submitting a review that is all in all unnecessary, the information about the album gets scattered across two different pages. And this is regarding the duplicates. However, it's also true that, given how the site is going, a double review of the FL isn't a bad thing at all.

Indeed, I have the original. And I also remember the notes from the booklet. I’ve only listened to it once with all 4 CDs together; just to hear it properly from all four stereos, I had to lie down in a corner of the room. Zaireeka is a game; adjusting the volume, running to stop that CD that had gotten too far ahead for a second, coming up with clever ways to be able to listen to it. As for the quality of the music, I couldn’t say; as an experience, it’s moderately entertaining. The real highlight would have been attending the boom box concert organized by Coyne in a parking lot.
