Pretazzo, undoubtedly the scene was very, very multifaceted. But I would say that in general the coordinates were these: ramones + stooges + mc5 + psychedelia + desert + noir + nuggets + blues. If you want to hear where Mudhoney got their sound from, put on Feedtime and especially the Scientists (not the original lineup).

In my opinion, Dickinson was the voice of Halford (not identical, obviously) + the theatrical movements of Ozzy. He was both a leader and a follower, like everyone else.

Seriously, you don't know anyone? Then start with the first Saints album (I'm Stranded), which is the best punk '77 record ever (with the nickname you have, you can't miss it). Then the first from Radio Birdman (who are an institution in Australian rock – practically the whole scene was born from them). Then the first from Feedtime, which is the rawest, most violent, and spectacular garage-punk-blues ever.

So you go with: Feedtime, Radio Birdman, The Scientists, THE SAINTS, Tales from the Australian Underground, Beasts of Bourbon, Died Pretty, damn there's the sound of Seattle ten years early. Mark Arm was a fan of these bands, and you can tell.
