I had already noted and downloaded the Marble Sheep (your advice from some time ago), now I'm listening.

Damn, the Ghosts are so boring. For psycho-Japanese, I recommend: White Heaven, High Rise (an extremely acid guitar that does whatever the hell it wants), Fushitsusha (a sort of jam band like Grateful Dead and Amon Duul, but noise!), Mainliner. Then there are the total jokes of Acid Mothers Temple (which I think are pointless, but listenable).

In my opinion, this deserves a full five stars. Maybe it's because you don't like the genre, but this is a kind of collection of stratospheric and experimental hip-hop. There is a common thread, and the frequent collaborations are part of Vahnke's very essence of sampled music. On one hand, there's the monotony (in a positive sense) of the mind-bending drum-machine beats, while on the other, there's the extreme variety of interpretations. Especially considering that Vahnke isn't particularly gifted with vocal cords. Lastly, I'd throw in a nice "de gustibus," of course.

In my opinion, Boris, in the overall scope of their discography, while largely taking the piss out of the listener, are still superior to their peers SunnO))). And ahead of their time.

For me, there’s no contest: the best album by Boris is this one. In second place, Rainbow (with an incredible contrast brought by Kurihara's frenzied acid guitar). Then maybe Akuma No Uta. I agree with Moonchild about the ā€œtaking the piss,ā€ which is why I couldn’t give the elusive 5.

Hevy Rocks is indeed a load of crap. Rainbow is beautiful, but you're right to say it's not them. Altar with SunnO))) is remarkable in my opinion (especially The Sinking Belle). The first two, Absolutego and Amplifier Worship, are very Melvins-esque and I never listen to them. But the definitive brick of an album was mentioned by Ramona: Sun Baked (Snow?) Cave, impossible.

Akuma No Uta is a beautiful album and being very diverse, I would recommend it to anyone wanting to "access" Boris. Even though I don’t think there’s anything that recalls the sound of Flood, and even if the Boris that do stoner inspired by the Stooges leave me somewhat indifferent. Are you familiar with Heavy Rocks?
