Klaus Schulze Irrlicht
Voto:
I have always heard of it as a classic, a fundamental work in the field of electronics from the '70s (and not only). It deserves careful attention.
Rod Stewart Batman Superman Spiderman
Voto:
"This single by Rod Stewart differs greatly from Adele's whines." I haven't heard it yet, but I don't doubt it.
Area Area(A)zione
Voto:
An excellent live performance, a snapshot of an era and a unique band that’s hard to classify. A fireworks display for the closing with "L'Internazionale," stripped of its rhetorical component (also due to the absence of singing) but still equally haunting.
The Beatles With The Beatles
Voto:
I found the historical excursus a bit redundant, but useful for those who know little about the Beatles. The album is entertaining and easy to listen to, but modest, especially compared to what would come later. In my opinion, the only truly noteworthy track is "All My Loving."
Franco Simone Se Di Mezzo C'è L'Amore
Voto:
I have always heard good things about Franco Simone from many music enthusiasts (I mention, for example, the blog "pensieri_p33", which specializes in rarities and lesser-known artists). The only song I know by him is "La casa in Via del Campo", a piece also covered by Amalia Rodriguez.
Syd Barrett Barrett
Voto:
A Barrettian review for a Barrettian album. "Barrett" seems rather heterogeneous to me, although Gilmour's production makes it less fragmented than the previous one. I find "Dominoes" sublime, as well as "Wined and Dined," delightful for its languid and bucolic rhythm; "Baby Lemonade" and "Gigolo Aunt" are very bright in their combination of lyrics and music, while "Wolfpack" feels a bit out of place with the rest (and still, it's a great track). And then there are songs that seem inconclusive: it’s not by chance, in my opinion, that "Waving My Arms in The Air" is followed immediately by the next track, without a break.
Dik Dik I Dik Dik
Voto:
Personally, I prefer their later works. "Senza luce" is remarkable from a musical perspective, but I've never liked the lyrics (there are some lapses in style, like that "cameriere, lascia stare"). There's also a cover of Dylan, "Mighty Quinn," which here becomes "L'esquimese," with a fairly nonsensical text.
Johnny Cash I Walk the Line
Voto:
A great figure whom, for as little as I know, I appreciate a lot but whom I have never really explored, probably due to the difficulty of navigating their extensive discography.
Tangerine Dream THE BOOTLEG BOX SET VOL. 1
Voto:
I only know them by "Zeit". The material presented seems interesting and of good quality.
Eagles Take It Easy
Voto:
The grand debut of the "Eagles". Hellraiser has said it all about the importance of this piece.
