This film is a masterpiece of rare clarity. One of the most significant movies of recent years, no doubt about it.

Not to mention the themes addressed by this film and the lyricism with which it manages to develop them.

In my opinion, and I absolutely do not want to talk about anyone present here, we should expect some sort of revisionist critical action aimed at undermining the authority of the Coen brothers. Since they won the Oscar, many pretentious "art film" critics will wrinkle their noses and casually criticize their past films, saying that we spoke too soon and that they were actually just mannered nonsense. I believe that those who call the Coen brothers mannered do not ask themselves a question: could it be their absolute technical perfection and their relentless mastery of the medium that make them appear so? If that were not the case, wouldn’t Kubrick also be considered mannered, in the same sense, common to the Coens, of "in his own manner"? In a book about the brothers, I read that when they discuss for too long how to shoot a scene, inevitably one of the two closes the discussion by saying, “Why don’t we just do it well?”
