Symphony X The Divine Wings Of Tragedy

ajeje I replied based on the latest messages, you wrote a lot and I get tired of reading everything. Anyway, regarding the discussion of cultured music, I don't think Symphony X fits in that category. Allen's voice is great, it’s not constrained and adapts to different tones, managing to be warm and enveloping. There are many singers better than him, but in the genre, he is among the best, even though with Symphony X, the voice isn’t the thing that impresses me the most, actually.

I wanted to add, since I've just read ajeje's message, that Rhapsody has nothing to do with Symphony X; the latter are neoclassical and have an amazing technique, and they're really great live. Rhapsody is predominantly a studio power metal band, in the sense that they don't perform well live, especially since their albums are full of fake orchestrations and stuff like that.

In my opinion, Symphony X annoy many people because of their power influences and because of Romeo's solos, which at first listen might seem self-indulgent. But at first listen, because Romeo is currently the best neoclassical metal guitarist out there, though the genre might not appeal to everyone. The beauty of Symphony X is that you discover new details in their songs, even after dozens and dozens of listens, but you have to get into the mindset of their sound. As for the drummer, he's certainly good, but never as good as Romeo, and the bassist, who is truly exceptional; moreover, the album's production downplays and reduces the power of the drums.

You were very clear and direct! But come on, "sworn" is a great piece, huh! Anyway, you're right, plus most of the covers are available as bonus tracks on their albums... metalheads rarely buy a greatest hits!

Arcturus Sideshow Symphonies
Voto:
With this album, I believe Arcturus have become an ordinary metal band, losing the originality and desire for innovation that had made their previous works great. The album isn't bad, but it's predictable and feels like I've heard it all before.
Sieges Even The Art Of Navigating By The Stars

In the past, everyone says they were techno thrash, but in this album of thrash, there's not even a hint of it. I'd say we are facing an intimate rock influenced by prog-metal.

I almost forgot to give you the review.

Those 3 songs I know from this album are unexpectedly beautiful. If they had kept going this way instead of the electronic and dance nonsense from the last albums, perhaps they could have produced at least some interesting work.
