David Cronenberg Videodrome
Voto:
Late comment because I just saw the movie. The idea of the film is original, bold, brilliant, yet in my opinion, this film has the same flaw as "They Live," namely superlative content but a less convincing execution. Of course, "Videodrome" manages to elevate itself to a status higher than that of a B-movie compared to Carpenter's film. I like "They Live" despite its poor actors and some unconvincing ideas; from this perspective, the actor playing Videodrome is very good, and the first part of the film is masterful. However, starting from the point when the protagonist is manipulated, everything becomes a bit predictable, and despite the enormous message, the film fails to take flight. So I'd give the content a 10, and the execution a 6.5-7.

Strangely, I also agree with Poletti, except for Marini, who deserves an Oscar. Well, I guess we have different tastes in women...

a nice yet self-serving document, in short, just for fans...

The film has good moments and could have become a great film; unfortunately, it chose the Hollywood format with its moral lessons and happy endings attached. It's a shame because some scenes are nice, and I like Tom Cruise as an actor. He can often be a bit too neurotic and self-absorbed, but let’s say that in this film, his interpretation fits perfectly, even if at times it is annoying. He has great talent, and he knows it, so he exaggerates and often tends to overdo it, going "over the top."

Meryl Streep is fantastic, the beautiful protagonist, the various costumes are lovely, and so on, and so forth. I agree about the trivial plot, seen and reviewed multiple times, predictable and even flatlined, but despite everything, I agree with the review’s rating; it’s not a film to throw away, and the setting is nice. Decent!

It's also worth noting the iconic opening scene with Terence Hill devouring a pan of beans, and generally all the scenes of Bud and Terence eating together.

I have to say that this film didn't convince me completely; the zombies aren't exactly convincing either. I might be blasphemous, but in my opinion, Romero's masterpiece regarding these themes is "Night of the Living Dead." However, it's a historic and important film.
