When they make movies like this in Italy, you can't help but think that Tarantino is right when he says that contemporary Italian cinema always presents the same plots (coming-of-age teenager in crisis, family problems, presented in a way that's as stereotypical as it gets).

It's a film that doesn't resonate even with those who generally love commercial movies (not even some of my friends who live for X-Men or Spider-Man liked it), so just imagine what a piece of junk it is. A few funny moments, but it’s really just a little film. However, the most outrageous thing is the publicity it received from all the news channels, with interviews and unrestrained praise...

Poletti, you are the status quo made flesh; if we were in the '60s, you would be trashing Totò just like the critics back then did, considering him the same way we view the films of the Vanzina brothers today. Do you want to understand that the world isn't black and white and that nothing is objective?

In my opinion, the b-movies of the 80s were little gems that amazed people with their stories, quirky and often comic-book-like characters, and paradoxical plots, rather than with the cold, phony special effects used today (where often the plots are even taken from video games). That's why I love all those late teenage movies (and others), which only the savvy and those with a bit of common sense judge in the right context, without making the usual idiotic comparisons to Fellini, Welles, and the like. Today's b-movies are various scary movies, various Christmas vacation films, while back then even low-budget movies could create an almost comic-book-like imagery and become cult classics and reference points in a youth context. Long live the Goonies, The NeverEnding Story, The Breakfast Club, Revenge of the Nerds, Big Trouble in Little China, and company. What crazy years the 80s were!

I went to elementary and middle school in the 90s, and by the end of that decade, I was already a teenager. This is to say that I'm not from the 80s generation (especially because I was very young in that decade), and yet I believe that the imagery created by those films is far superior to that of today's b-movies. So my comment above is not merely nostalgic; I still enjoy "The NeverEnding Story" even now that I've long passed my twenties, and I'm not ashamed of it...

Well, I went to elementary and middle school in the 90s, and by the end of that decade, I was already a teenager. This is to say that I’m not part of the 80s generation (especially since I was very young during that decade), and despite everything, I believe that the imagery created by those films is far superior to that of today’s b-movies. So my comment above isn’t just nostalgic; I still enjoy The NeverEnding Story even now that I’m well past my twenties, and I’m not ashamed of it...
