Queensrÿche Operation: Mindcrime
Voto:
The fact that this album is considered prog is a sort of urban legend, probably born from the influence it has had on several prog metal bands, at least in the use of melodies. Other than that, it remains a beautiful metal rock CD, featuring the most beautiful concept in the history of metal and beyond...

bartleboom Rage have nothing to do with bands like Edguy; I don’t consider them an exceptional group, but come on, if you like metal even a little bit, how can you not appreciate the killer riff of "Solitary Man"? German power metal, at least in its early days, was never fantasy and pompous; I really find it hard to believe that people who listen to or have appreciated metal in the past can’t at least appreciate a band like Rage. I understand if it’s not to your taste, but to label it among the worst and disgusting is just out of touch with reality...

I see that there are various prejudices and there’s some truth to it, because power metal in several cases is one of the most garish and pointless genres in metal, but Rage is not like that; the melodies are not sugary and pop, the riffing is aggressive and almost thrashy, the vocals are not the typical neutered style, but aggressive and a bit raspy. I’m sure this album will surprise, especially those with more prejudices. A solid 3.5 (I haven't listened to stuff like this in a while) is well-deserved. Great review!
Mr. Big Next Time Around - Best Of Mr. Big

great band, also because it's difficult to place them in a specific genre, certainly among the most personal groups of melodic hard rock (just to frame them) of that period, among the bands that have aged the best, thanks to their blend of hard rock, AOR, funk, and other influences of black music.

I have Oceanic and Panopticon and I think the two albums are on the same level, more psychedelic Oceanic, more "heavy" Panopticon, both excellent. I wouldn't compare them too much to Neurosis, they are really different despite being placed in the same musical genre. Sooner or later I will listen to this as well.
Frank Zappa Broadway the Hard Way
Voto:
I love Frank Zappa, even though I must say I prefer him in his "songs" and when he is more direct, rather than in his experiments. For example, the first three albums are absolute and genius masterpieces. Then I listened to the much-praised Hot Rats and found it more "normal"; in fact, at first, I was disappointed (even though Willie the Pimp's solo is simply amazing). Now it's grown on me with repeated listens, and I consider it a beautiful album, but I prefer his freak period, which is more free and crazy. I listened to Uncle Meat and had the same reaction I had with Hot Rats: brilliant moments here and there, but a bit too dispersive and self-celebratory. One thing is for sure, giving only 2 or 3 listens to Frank Zappa's albums is a huge shame!
Carlo Lucarelli Nuovi Misteri d'Italia
Voto:
Lucarelli is good, but for the mysteries of Italy, he should be a starting point and certainly not a destination. After all, he is a TV personality, and he can't go too far out on a limb.
Fabri Fibra Chi vuole essere Fabri Fibra?

If I listen to Italian hip hop, I always go for the usual suspects, the old guard Kaos and Colle der Fomento, who are the only ones still offering something interesting. The rest (from what little I’ve heard is junk), except for some Neapolitan hip hop, which still puts out interesting work. Check out Italian hip hop from the '90s (Neffa and company) and forget about this clown.
Umberto Lenzi Milano Odia: La Polizia Non Può Sparare
Voto:
This is a great genre film, not even too "police-like," as at times there are also noir atmospheres present. A great performance by Milian and a beautiful soundtrack by Morricone. The usual saying, "nobody in Italy has the guts to make films like this anymore," fits perfectly in this case. Even the dialogues seem direct and straightforward. When I first saw it, I was pleasantly surprised; I had always underestimated the Italian "poliziotteschi," always snubbed by a certain criticism, while in reality, we were among the world leaders in this type of plot back then!

With this CD, Max Cavalera continues the musical discourse begun with Chaos A.D. and Roots, but it all feels like a less intense and more commercial version of those two works, in short, a pale imitation. Still, Cavalera's touch is present, resulting in an album with some inspired moments—nice, but also a bit dull. I still prefer the following Primitive, which is more "focused" and less chaotic than this one; even there, it’s not a masterpiece, but it’s an enjoyable album!
