Misfits Walk Among Us

The review is well written.
The album is really heavy, even though I prefer the next one, Earth A.D., which is much more violent and hardcore than this (by the way, my review of Earth A.D., if you want to check it out, doesn’t appear on this page because I placed ā€œTheā€ before ā€œMisfitsā€).
I agree with the importance of the Misfits in the American hardcore scene, but if I had to make a note, you could have just mentioned the significance of Glenn and the others in the birth of extreme metal (as I may have done a bit too much in my review), and this is also demonstrated by the fact that Danzig subsequently distanced himself in his solo career from punk and embraced hard rock sounds with Sabbath influences.
In any case, the review deserves a high score.

Ah, it's you Tyler, I figured there was your touch and the style seemed like that of Medusa by Clan of Xymox.
Great, cheers!

I extend an invitation to the actual reviewer of the album because I would like to shake their hand. I don’t own this album, but I have Dawnrazor and The Nephilim which I like very much. Carl McCoy is a great artist and he is my favorite gothic figure alongside Eldritch, a sort of gothic cowboy, as well as a somber figure that seems to have come out of a Lovecraft novel. Finally, this great band has been given the recognition it deserves; it was about time!

One last thing, just to clarify and then I'll leave you alone. I respect your opinion, which I absolutely do not share, but please don’t make it seem like I'm the one who "hasn't listened to the album" since I own the entire discography of Renske and company. Best regards.

The Katatonia, I repeat, so I can explain myself better, are not losing their gothic roots, but their METAL ones, and with this I hope to have made my thoughts clear.

No, my friend, I did NOT say that they are not gothic, or that they have lost their gothic roots, but if you read my post carefully, I only said that, objectively, they do NOT make gothic METAL, but at most gothic rock (of course, I’m referring to the current Katatonia and not to those of the first two albums and, at most, to Discouraged Ones). Obviously, you haven't listened to the album carefully, or at best, you don't know what gothic METAL is. I admit, though, that I was superficial in reading the part of your review where you said that you had described only 7 songs out of 12 and I thought you were referring to the first 7 tracks.

No, Molten, I'm sorry but I really didn't like your review. Aside from the fact that the current Katatonia has very little, if anything, of gothic metal, they could at most be considered gothic rock with alternative Tool influences. If you wanted to do a track-by-track description, you could have done it for all the songs and not just the first seven. The riff in "Leaders" is not at all, as you say, in full gothic metal style. It's a very powerful riff and very Tool-like, nothing gothic about it. The gothic atmospheres in this album, in my opinion, are present only in the moods created by the keyboards and certainly not in the rhythmic parts. I agree that Katatonia is undoubtedly one of the best bands around, but defining them as metal is too reductive and essentially untrue. I gave my review of the album a 4. After more listens, I can now give it a 5, so it comes out to a nice 4.5.

I gladly take note of all your advice. Regarding the LAM, I’ve actually been thinking about a purchase for a while, since I’ve heard something and liked it. I’ll let you know, cheers.
