No, Burns, let me tell you, you’re not convincing me at all.
Not about you being Alias; I repeat, that was just a provocation.
You’re very contradictory, not coherent at all with what you say, and moreover, you stubbornly insist on asking the same question over and over (this time implicitly calling me a teenager).
It’s remarkable that you first pointed out “The Thing” as the best film over Shining, only to express your complete disdain for it a second later, and then, finally, turning your opinion around 360 degrees again, you responded that it was a tribute to a director whose films you criticized in previous posts and in your last one as being works for kids.
As I’ve told you many times, in my opinion, films like The Thing and "In the Mouth of Madness," inspired by the writings of that madman named Lovecraft, are evocative and full of pathos.
Is that enough for you or did I give you an answer from a fifteen-year-old?

I mean, guys, sure, let's make room for the young, but giving this written piece a 5 really means you haven't read the review. Here, I'm generous and I'll give you a 2.

"I really can't believe that Carpenter makes your blood run cold. Come on, let's be serious, tell me one minute of his filmography that is genuinely scary. I’ve seen them all, and they just make me laugh, from: Death Brigades to the latest ridiculous flicks, stuff like Nightmare, like Wes Craven. I'm talking about aberrations, films that dig under your skin, about things never seen before, to quote Ghezzi, true horror, not nonsense like Scream..." But Burns, you ask me this question just a second after writing that Carpenter's "The Thing" is better than Shining? I'll add a third possibility: to support Alias's position that there are many horror films better than Shining (calling me limited as well—let's skip that), you've started listing all the horror film names that came to mind, throwing them out randomly. P.S.: As you'll notice, in my provocation, I didn't insult anyone. I would expect, from civilized people, that you would contradict me in the same way. Thanks.

I subscribe to every letter of Ajeje and furthermore, regarding Carpenter, I invite you, for those who haven't done so, to watch "In the Mouth of Madness." I also notice that Alias, after the initial provocation, has not surfaced again. I will provoke then, once in a while and as long as I am allowed to. Isn’t it possible that Alias = Burns? Let me explain: in his first post, Burns includes John Carpenter's The Thing among the horror films that come before The Shining. After Alias's intervention stating that "the thing (is that Carpenter?? Carpenter is perhaps the most overrated director of so-called horror, there's not a minute that truly chills the blood in his entire filmography)," Burns's tastes change immediately, and indeed, in subsequent posts he is outraged if someone finds some of Carpenter's films excellent and invites us to find a noteworthy minute in Carpenter's filmography. One question Burns, why such a sudden change in taste? In my opinion, there are two possibilities: either you and Alias are the same person, which would be infinitely pathetic, or you suffer from an unconditional reverential fear of him. The provocation has been thrown. It is up to you, Burns, to clarify my legitimate doubts.

I’ll write one last thing and then I have to leave you.
The underlying problem is, as usual, the presumptuousness of trying to pass one’s own thoughts off as objective.
It’s clear that whether we’re talking about cinema or music, personal tastes must be respected.
I didn't say, for instance, that "Gli Inseparabili" is a mediocre film, but that it sucks for me.
It’s different, don’t you think?
And I certainly don’t dare to claim that you’re limited just because you like it.
That’s all, have a good evening everyone.

I repeat, Burns, I respect your tastes, of course. In my opinion, many of the films you mention are absolutely terrible. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, for me (I repeat, for me), only caused yawns. However, the thing really caught my attention.

I wouldn’t dream of it, Burns; I respect other people's tastes. It bothers me a bit to be labeled as limited without being known, that's all. And I agree with Aje when he says that randomly throwing out horror movie names doesn't mean you understand the genre.

Yes, alias, but you still haven't written which films would be better than Alias. I would like to know the perspective of someone who is not limited.

No, aje, in my opinion, Alias and Burns's posts are simply provocative; otherwise, they wouldn’t make sense. The key is not to fall for it.
