True, the Nuggets 1 and 2 are also unmissable. However, they're too varied in genres and more precise on the psych/pop side. The "Back From The Grave" compilations are less scattered: face-pounding hits a-go-go!!!

simply a rougher, more violent, and raucous form of rock 'n' roll, born in garages during the mid-60s and baptized by amateur bands of American college kids. In just a handful of years (roughly from '65 to '70), an endless array of singles, small hits, and albums fell into oblivion. But the germ of punk rock in the "do it yourself" philosophy is all there. If you're interested in digging deeper, look for the compilations "Back From The Grave," "Pebbles," "Hang It Out To Dry" (I mention the most famous ones, but there are countless compilations, all very well curated) or go straight for the more significant bands, like the Sonics (essential), Wailers, Kingsmen, Raiders, Trashmen, Regents, but also Count Five, Shadows of Night, Swamp Rats, Seeds (I could give you an endless list). Ten years later, that "garage" is practically absorbed into the forms of punk (the only hard and pure revival will be by DMZ, see the review). ps. the drumbeat of Yo Se is LATIN. simple Tex-Mex rhythm (Hagerty is obsessed with Mexican music). I play the bass; and the drums when I want to break balls.

(Fest, I add to the nostalgic mention what the Minutemen said about the Huskers: "this band could have been your life!"...)

It's absolutely a record to recover along with the stuff from Nova Mob. But with the Huskers, I've always been a fan of Bob Mould! P.S. Odra, this is the first review of an album that I ACTUALLY HAVE. What's up, do you occasionally include a real album so it doesn't show too much that you're making the others up from scratch?

I love this man. Because he always writes "full of grace" and chooses the ugliest album covers around. Because he puts asterisks and illustrates everything so well that even if you don’t buy the record, you already know perfectly how it sounds in your head. This is why I never buy the records he reviews: because I love this man.

But review however you like, don't worry. The point isn't whether to mention the tracks or not (and let’s be clear, a 'good-natured blunder' for me is saying that in Yo Se the drums are funky or throwing "Rock Garage" in DeGeneri when there's not even a shadow of it here... and I could go on... what can you do, I'm picky) the point is that -I already told you- you gave an idea of the album that I find completely superficial. And instead of just giving you a nice 4 (which, these ratings...) and saying "hey, cool. the Royal Trux rock" I'm explaining to you why. "standard" is based on my parameters of the concept of "standard". I didn’t mean to offend. Do you want a pat on the back now?

In my opinion, in Norway, you’ve got yourself tangled up with this Anne Lene.

well... I think you've gone a bit off track. I don't even believe I've misunderstood you, I simply read things that I consider (from my personal point of view, you would say) "good-natured blunders": how can you "review" an album (you didn't give it a poetic, dreamlike or anyway personal touch.. yours is in every way a "standard review") omitting the entire first half of the album itself? You mention Twin Infinitives three times calling it a masterpiece (okay) and build the entire journey that leads to Veterans, then you close by saying <<<Anyway, it was impossible to replicate "Twin Infinitives" after all these years, but this album still shows that their creative spark was not yet exhausted… and that sometimes you have to get your hands dirty!>>> and I ask myself what the hell that means (also in relation to your last post). Ultimately: I didn't directly call you a loser, don't get me wrong. However, I think I've more than worn out my welcome, so I'll step back now. p.s. a tip, if you haven't done it yet, listen to "Cats And Dogs" as soon as possible! adieu

yessa! beautiful and nocturnal. and the Dj Kicks series is full of little gems to discover: it’s amazing the amount of 50s soul tracks included. I guess when it comes to shaking the ass and swaying, it all starts from there!
