What do you say? My first feeling is that this time the guys have really hit the mark, big time. Forget disappointing the fans, great choice of sounds and excellent harmonic solutions! P.S. Ginky, but if there’s a “style,” isn’t it “deftonesian”? Sounds better...

ps. the cover of "The Action is Go" by Fu Manchu features Alva captured in the first, historic "aerial" in skateboarding history (even though Jay was the first unofficial one - in the film, the sequence of the concrete pipes)... identical scene and identical shot, in the fiction, at the end of the film.

...but Tony Alva is the Hispanic Elvis of skateboarding! (in the movie, definitely the coolest and undeniably the kid who plays Jay)

ps. Ramona, in '80 I was being born! But by '91 I had already dislocated my shoulder twice and fractured a knee! We had no slopes, just metal handrails and marble steps... next generation! So many great memories, damn it... (and luckily I still have all my teeth to tell the tale!)

Yes, I have both (the documentary and the film). I detest one scene from the documentary (which, overall, could have been better)... Jay Adams launches into his tirade telling how he regretted making wrong choices and ruining everything because of his stubbornness; he’s almost in tears and concludes with something like, "Well, it’s done now, I can only fix part of the old stuff and move on," and that idiot cameraman/interviewer suddenly asks him (as if he hadn’t heard a word of what Jay had just said): "Can you tell us why?"... Jay looks at him thinking ("he's an idiot") and with a face of someone who wouldn’t stab you only because it would be 'too much' says: "Well, I just finished telling you that!"...

zzzz no, don't take this! I mean, not now! Go for Private Press and Endtroducing! 2 many djs all over the place, only you can’t find them... kosmo, right? I mean, it seems like a "slightly old" album.. all the magic lost behind the rhymes of the rappers called in (I just can't stand rap and I'm biased, huh) but it seems to me that the SOUND MAGIC of the legendary Ombra is completely missing. I don't know. total flop.
