grandiose. you are the wizard of the opening. you’ve made me want to look for the record: I think I’m interrupting my jazz diet.
Causa Sui Summer Sessions Vol. I

Great. Even just for the reflection on vinyl/CD/MP3. I'm hooked on MP3s; I find them damn convenient. For the rest, I currently buy (a little) CDs. Vinyl is too expensive for me... ps. I've lost track of Causa Sui; the first one was phenomenal.

And then hi Odradek, long time no see. You know Avishai too, there’s nothing I can hide from you. For me, "Unity" together with the International Vamp Band is one of the most beautiful latin-jazz albums of the last ten years, and "Continuo" is the one I love the most (I think I've learned all the solos in two years. So I pass myself off as the best bassist in Eurasia, but none of my friends ever believe me at least until I open MySpace and post the tracks I record in the attic. Even if I don’t have an attic.) But the real miracle is another: "Past, Present & Futures" by the Chick Corea New Trio. Pure poetry. The initial idea was to talk about that album, but I still can’t find the words. (May the other users forgive us for the little interlude. A hug.)

"just after the beat," you know, that hit struck just a moment before it’s supposed to (bum-cha) that manages to give a feeling of ...movement (I don't know how else to explain it). it's something that seems super-technical, but if you listen to Tony Williams in the second quintet of Miles Davis, you won't even notice it. it’s like... giving more 'flow' to the rhythm, making the other instruments rush behind the beats of time and not the other way around. I hope I got the idea across.

how much I like it. how much I like his music. I could have kept it short, like this. but can you compare to writing four new lines for dear old Debaser? I greet the beautiful people and 'justify' this little foray into jazz: you never forget your first love! apart from the latest by Vic Chesnutt (a splendid album, I point out to Psycho a carbon copy of the solo in 'No Fun' on the track "We are Mean"), I haven't listened to a rock album in eight months; I can do this. p.s. "rocambolanti" is a word that I don't think exists in the vocabulary: it must be my mix-up between "mirabolanti" and "rocamboleschi" with the complicity of Word's dyslexic autocorrect.
