The tools are not up for debate, but the review has a tone that's a bit too enthusiastic. I do notice some moments of "fatigue" in the album, especially after multiple listens. But I think it’s just because if they had made the perfect album, I would have hated it completely. :P

It's curious how Opeth evoke opinions that can be completely opposing. I like the album, but I consider it inferior in every way to Ghost Reveries, even after several listens; and for example, I really like Hex Omega, it closely resembles the style of GR.

oh my god: "gloomy keyboards always present as in all the songs of this work" IN ALL THE """SONGS"""?... we want the Finley under Roadrunner.

genius like "Mikael Akerfeldt" [..] both from "Akerfeldt" and the sweet voice of the Swedish folk singer "Nathalie Lorichs". -> why the names in quotes??
anyway, I've also prepared a review, but I'm waiting to have the album at home with the smell of new and listen to it at least once from there before publishing it. moreover, I completely disagree with what you say; the change is there and you can feel it. Furthermore, typos in the text galore; proofreading is not a crime. The repetitions make the review heavy, and the comments -too- enthusiastic undermine its quality. oh, and has someone already mentioned that it hasn't even come out yet?

"no more bunnies, sugar eggs, no more chocolate eggs, no more doves with candied fruit and no more cheerful family lunches." -> no more starblazer. "I had a damn craving for something strong, something hard, exciting, but also decadent, something angry yet morbidly poetic; in short, I was in urgent need of a" -> kick in the gums.

Well, scialbetto. If we replaced Devin with an average singer, this album would be something else ('dupalle). Easy listening, a little bit more, but it could have been better with such a lineup. I hate track by track; if you don't have much to say, focus on your emotions rather than throwing out ratings and comments (which, by the way, are quite unshareable) on every single song, intros included.

I still think 5 stars are too many, but after several listens, this album definitely deserves no less than 4.

Damn, I wanted to do it myself. Honest album, neither more nor less than what they claim to want to do. They do it quite well, but a little bit of originality wouldn’t hurt (and the characters have plenty to offer, if only for the part coming from Katatonia/Opeth).
