Dream Theater Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memory

Easy, metal isn't for you, and prog even less (I've probably said this at least seventy times). You don't understand the listening criteria, you don't know how to approach it. Your musical culture is vast, too vast. That's the problem. You need to have a more particular point of view, you need to immerse yourself in it. Come on.

Indeed, it’s the last two minutes that literally take you flying into the dream world of Metropolis (in my opinion), aside from the super flashy intro and the central part that is technically ultra-expressive, almost as if it were speaking directly to you, almost as if it wanted to say “voilà, is there anything else to add?” Devon, a girl with remarkable attributes (which are communicative too...) with a voluptuous figure; if only all DT songs were like this... After Metro Pt1, DT will never surpass themselves again. ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE!

Indeed, Metropolis is THE song that would annihilate any criticism of easy, if only they would try to listen to it... it’s the last song you should consider if you want to carry on an anti-DT revolt.

Yes, I am also dark, punk, rap RnB... but I see metal differently. More orthodox, more strict in its precepts that the followers must rigorously adhere to. Perhaps narrow-minded in the long run, but I actually like it that way.

Matt, easy means poor from a compositional standpoint, not technical. Because they are derivative, aesthetic, academic, and blah blah blah. They are a bit derivative, also aesthetic (after all, they play prog metal), academic... only in the less successful songs. But I'm fine with them just the same.

I BELIEVE IN THE HEAVY METAL GODS!!!!!!! You might say that metal is a faith, but can't you see how much it creates identity among those who appreciate it? You might tell me: every genre of music creates identity. I will reply: for metal, the discussion is different. Don’t you see how "orthodox" true metalheads are? They would sacrifice their parents and the people closest to them just to keep listening to metal! And I mean MUSICAL FAITH, not theological.

What's so funny about me saying that metal is a true faith? I even added FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE, meaning both in terms of its strengths (technique, power, various virtuoso feats) and its weaknesses (it always tends to be the same, too conservative at times, not very "experimental," if you know what I mean). But do you read the various posts carefully, or do you have some small prejudices even before you see the username of the person who wrote it? Metal is a faith DOES NOT mean that everything is all sunshine and rainbows, you know?

You’re smart laughing at us just because we listen to music different from yours. YOU ARE POOR INSIDE THE SOUL, YOU ARE A VICTIM OF YOUR OWN MEDIOCRITY. YOU ARE A PRISONER OF YOUR MUSIC THAT WAS IN FASHION BACK IN THE DAYS OF HEGEL'S YOUTHFUL WRITINGS. YOU COULD EVEN INTEGRATE IT WITH SOME OTHER MUSIC GENRE, YOU KNOW?

What a flashy dick you are. If you don't appreciate metal, ARIA. PROGRESSIVE is MUSIC, INSTEAD OF BREAKING MY MEMBER WITH YOUR USELESS AIRS OF INTELLECTUAL SUPERIORITY AND FILLING YOUR MOUTH WITH THE NAMES OF MOZART AND VIVALDI, GO MOCK THE REAL SHIT MUSIC THAT'S OUT THERE, AROUND EVERY CORNER, IT SEEMS THERE'S WORSE MUSIC THAN PROGRESSIVE METAL. AND DON’T YOU FEEL HEATED, YOU JUST COME OFF AS THE CLASSIC ARISTOCRATIC CONSERVATIVE, GET OFF THE PEDESTAL. You’re more predictable than early-year prices :)
