Me, an idiot? You, smart, I bet, right? Anyway, enough, you’re limited and only pay attention to the labels of biographies, and say "it’s true, it’s true, it’s written here"! BUT DO YOU REALLY WANT TO make this a topic? Do you want to think with your brain? Do you want to understand that NIRVANA were as punk as Blink182? (sorry for the comparison, but when it’s necessary, it’s necessary). ENOUGH.

But MrMorte, am I talking to the wind? If that damn farmhouse says punk rock, THAT'S HIS PROBLEM. Can't you see he's a fan? Can't you see how he praises it apolitically? He's free to say what he wants, but THAT DOESN'T MEAN HE'S SPEAKING "THE TRUTH." Do I have to explain everything like I'm talking to children? I'll repeat for the last time (I'm exhausted) that NIRVANA are remembered in history as a grunge band; calling them punk rock is a rather erroneous definitional exaggeration. If he thinks so, AMEN. Most of the universe thinks like me (I believe). END OF STORY.

But easy fragmentation does not mean innovation. That doesn't change the fact that the DTs are fragmented and heterogeneous. They may be fragmented only from a purely technical standpoint, but in the end, we are talking about metal, aren't we?

I was referring more to cultural postmodernism, not musical. I study Sociology at university; I don't want to be presumptuous (I hate presumptuous people), but I know what I'm talking about when discussing certain topics. As for Nirvana, well, we diverge only minimally, all things considered. I also forgot to add the term "main" to the previous definition, so it would be "lack of a MAIN cultural cornerstone."

What patience it takes. Does Cobain talk about punk rock in his autobiography? Of course, he must have been inspired by the aforementioned movement and influenced by it, but for the umpteenth time, Nirvana were neither punk rock before nor after; the term is too reductive. But then, excuse me, why do you get so worked up with us? You know practically nothing about Rock and yet you act like a know-it-all with us? Have a little dignity, for heaven's sake. Being more or less cultured, in the end, doesn't mean you're always right (if we can even talk about being right in Music). Look at Scaruffi, for example...

KaYIa, it wasn't me who was anonymous; I confront ignorant people like you face-to-face. Do I need to hide behind "the unverified"? Not with you and MrMorte. And I would never adopt such an attitude with anyone. Offending through anonymity is the most miserable and poor thing one can do on DeBaser.

It simply means that they "had to" call it grunge in the absence of a more appropriate term. They weren't punk in an absolute sense, they weren't rock in an absolute sense, nor were they hard in an absolute sense. Postmodernism means fragmentation, a lack of a cultural cornerstone, and this inevitably leads to an accentuation of methodological relativism. Hybrids and crossbreeds are created, and Nirvana are partly a result of this. (Of course, the Tortoise are at another level; that is pure experimentation).

What are you talking about? It's not enough to be a critic to always be right. Shall we open a forum and see how many people are willing to affirm that Nirvana can definitely be defined as "grunge" rather than "punk rock"? I am convinced, my friend, that even the early Nirvana cannot be defined as punk rock. Nirvana is the essence of "Post." If you know the difference between the term "post" and the term "non-post," good; otherwise, let's talk about something else, which is better. Punk is a term that comes to mind when I think of The Clash or the Sex Pistols (even though the two bands don’t have that much in common as punk bands), certainly not when it comes to Nirvana. You did try to put me in difficulty, so you deserve a round of applause for that. Alas, among the many nice people who frequent DeBaser and are perfectly capable of challenging me speculating on metal rock, you are the very last person who causes me trouble in this sense... I'm sorry. Maybe you could trick Fibra; you never know. Bye bye.
