Here, you see Mr. Morte... you're not, let's say, the prototype of the "intellectual" (not that I am, for heaven's sake)... it's obvious that with you, only "down-to-earth" conversations can be had, nothing more.

I would say 9 out of 10, because judging this Ayreon album as "good" is certainly not an insult.

Still ignoble comparisons, as far as I can see, huh? Maybe there is a noticeable and marked difference in refinement, genuineness, technical/musical solutions, and artistic depth between Pausini and Ayreon, what do you think? (Besides the fact that the musical proposals are quite different). Or are Ayreon like Pausini simply because they reprise some classic prog stylistic elements? Bah... Furthermore, should I really trust that reviewer who says it’s “perfectly packaged and played HORRIBLY”???? This double CD is played horribly??? Are we on Zelig by any chance, and I just didn’t notice?

But isn't that way of evaluation ridiculous? It's simply more technical, more formal. I mean, the question doesn't have to be "Did they innovate, did they contribute to making music better?" We have this double CD, LET'S JUDGE IT FOR WHAT IT IS, FOR HOW IT WAS PRODUCED AND FOR THE TECHNICAL/MELORDIC IDEAS ADOPTED.

So, are they all incompetent then? What do you want me to say? WILL THOSE REVIEWS BE WORTH SOMETHING OR ARE THOSE WHO WROTE THEM REALLY INCOMPETENT LIKE YOU LET ON? Will it be a valid metric or not? It’s true that if you have the New Wave in your head when you listen to them... it’s certainly hard to find something good in it. You keep abstracting the quality of the product beyond the genre, but I don’t know how worthwhile all of this is.

But Easy, you weren't expecting all these positive comments about Ayreon, were you? :-D The "superficial" evaluation metric, as you call it, isn't just from one reviewer... why is that? I would call it "different" rather than superficial... less prejudiced towards prog metal. Perhaps less cultured (and fortunately less snobbish). But ultimately more objective. Extreme intellectualization and culturalization of music distorts it.

Yes, the DT overall are a decent/good band (a mix of excellent technique and a trio of great albums under their belt). Then they’ve done less impressive things (recently) and my esteem for them has necessarily diminished. That they are derivative is a fact (in some circumstances), and this prevents me from praising them as an "absolute creative band." They have been skilled in their proposal because artistically they are worth half of their "precursors"... the gems in their discography exist, they are there, I don’t deny them... but I can’t hail them as an outstanding band overall. At best, very good.

On world nights on Rai1, they first played the intro of Take the Time...
