Dream Theater Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memory

but it depends, it absolutely depends, because with 4 chords, super simple ones, you CAN REVOLUTIONIZE rock music, it's a fact. and you can do very high-quality rock with 4 chords.

Mighty and proud. I only have Clockseed though.

You keep saying things that are, personally, absolutely wrong. Because I could mention bands or artists who didn’t make technique their winning weapon, in fact, they completely ignored it, composing with great creative freedom, without having studied Music as if it were Mathematics in high school. Art can be achieved in various ways; the technique and academic compositional skills you refer to are just one of the many paths one can take. It’s not necessarily the best one, either.

Matt, you’ve made me nervous with your last two posts; think about how horrified Easy will be... "You have to explain to me what compositional knowledge you have to create your own music... because calling oneself a composer without having studied is something I find utterly blasphemous..." This is absolutely false, that much is certain.
Evanescence The Open Door

Yes, but it's undeniable that they want to appear as a gothic band; it's a pity that it's a highly commercial gothic. It's not even a personal style of their own; it's just a quest to be as catchy and accessible as possible to the masses.
Evanescence The Open Door

"Just because it can perceive things that differ from yours." On this diplomatic conclusion, I would say let's leave it here, and remember that Evanescence is terrible no matter what you or I might say. Listen, I don’t know, Wolfheart by Moonspell and then you’ll understand what Gothic means.

and learn to develop a musical SENSIBILITY especially, because to make good rock it's not enough to have a weak electric guitar like that of Evanescence, inserted in an ABSOLUTELY Pop structure.

"The musical quality is also there with Evanescence, it's you who doesn't know how to listen." Come on, you're making me laugh so hard, stop it. And learn to listen and enrich yourself from those who know a bit more than you, instead of continuing to babble nonsensical things, driven by the pride of someone who wants to respond to compete, but doesn't know what to say due to evident ignorance.
